thoughts on 514
have a lead on a decent 514...the crank is a factory offset grind..4.140 stroke...rods are eagle beams..pistons are ross flat tops...what are you guys opinion on this motor ..stuff is used buy has been checked by shop...

If you know the history, its been checked out by a reputable shop and priced right.... Go for it.

I agree with dfree and Randy. If the parts are in good shape and inspected, and the price is right....all should be OK for the 514 in the right application.
The stroked O.E. cast crank 512-514 deals were the heritage for all of the current larger strokers that we all enjoy now. The cranks do not last forever, but not too many of them do.....

i got chicken..price was way low..275.00..had 2 different h beam rods in it...just seemed to weird so i decide to pass on it

he said he was building a stock motor..i asked him why not use the 514 stuff he said i dont want that much power..and it had 6 rods with 7/16 bolts and 2 with 3/8 bolts from eagle...just not for me

Is this $275.00 price for real...? If someone was to throw all the other parts away, the machined block is still worth that if it's not broken or cracked; jeesh.

I think you made a smart move, especially if your time is worth anything. By the time you get it all sorted out, transport it, figure out what you have and go to the trouble of advertising and trying to move the stuff, you're going to be way farther into it than 250.00 worth of your time...if you get your money back.
