Spark plug fuel ring reading
I have been told a couple of different ways when to read the plugs. Should I make my quarter mile pass, get on the return road and kill the engine, then read my plug, OR am I to kill my engine after I pass the traps and coast hoping I can slow down and to get to the return lane? (I don't have power steering or power brakes). I've also been told that I could just drive back to my pit area and read them there. I'm tired of beating this dead horse. How do you guys do it? Thanks.

I'd click it off in the traps and tow it back to the pits.

best to click it at the trap, careful on the neutral if its a 3 speed deal.

Re: Spark plug fuel ring reading
Cut the ignition as soon as you drop the throttle, you want the plug to be the window to the combustion chamber during or as close to wfo as possible.
I like to do what Bruno said, coast to a stop off track and swap out the plug for a new one and drive back to the pits. If you idle the engine very much you will lose all the info, because the plug will show the pump shots and idle circuit, on the return road.
Hope this helps.

Off the throttle and kill the ignition right after you lift or the end of the 1/8 or 1/4 but in your case since you have a reverse manual valve body, shifting into neutral could be an issue.
