Test & Tune @ SRD
Well, I just got home from the track and even though we only got two half track passes for the first real outing on Mike and Deanna's new pipe-rack, it was a good day! Mike and I got to the track about 5:00 pm, unloaded the car and started prepping it so it would be ready when Deanna got there. Deanna's instructions where to take it easy and get a feel for the car, just half track. After she got staged and the tree went down, it took off like a bat out of hell. Somewhere around the 100 or 200 ft. mark it started busting up. I think the 60 ft. time was 1.090 something. Mike and I hooked up the Laptop to the Digital 7 and made some corrections and bumped up the launch RPM. This time it took off again like a bat out of hell and our corrections worked, still a half track pass with a 1.085 @ 60 ft. . We where all smiling like a mule eating briar's when Deanna pulled back into the pits . The plan was to make two more passes, both full runs. The first with the same settings, and the second bumping the launch RPM again and leaning on the converter some more. Mike and Deanna went to the staging lanes and I was at the fence to shoot another video from the hill. Well everything got quite, drag strip and the round track. A power transformer went out by the concession stand and everything quit working. We waited and waited, then waited some more. They said the power company was on the way, but we just couldn't take it anymore. Mike got Deanna backed up and back to the trailer, so we loaded up and left .
I think the next outing might be at Silver Dollar. I don't know what it is, but it seems like every time we go to SRD something happens to hold up the show . Here's the video of the first two runs.

Thanks guys, after our issues at the BASH, this was the first chance we had to see if we fixed anything...I think we got most of it...
1) I never rechecked the timing after installing the motor ( out of my white car) . Check it here and we only had 12* TOTAL... not good...bumped it to 32*
2) The voltage issues at the BASH never re-appeared. The 16 volt battery never got below 15.5 back in the pits, after a run..
3)In the Digital 7 we have, there is an option for "safe shutdown" or whatever it was titled...To shut the car off or to a reduced rpm level after a set amount of time.
It was still set at the default level.... 2 seconds and 4000rpm..... Changed it and now it runs clean all the way down...BIG relief there !!!!!
We only go to this track because it is close, only an hour away. it is only good for checking things out..i.e...will it run, does it stop, does it leak.
Now that we have that answered , we will go to a real track and have at it..
Oh..one last thing, on the last pass , she had a 1.085 60' , got off the pedal at 2 seconds in and coasted thru at a 5.50 @ 90mph.

But my Pink Flamingo valve covers ARE on the motor!.... Mike needs to take them off so I can repaint them Then Doug suggested we paint the car pink, but I told him that I do have some pink pinstripe and graphics that could be applied

Good to hear that y'all are getting it down the track. Gremlins are a PITA! I was sent to Iowa shortly after leaving the Bash, so I have still not made a pass with the new bullet installed.
Sounds like you're gonna have a good time with those short times.
The safe shutdown option is pretty cool,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, after you figure out what's going on with it. I had a similar experience with mine.
PINK valve covers?????????????? that'll take the man fun out of it.

Bruno... no dial-in's on T&T night..as a career T and T guy..you know that. We had it up there to "mess with" some of the local cheby boyz....BUT, by the time we get it sorted out..it may not be too far off..
Curt..no pink valve covers.. They are engraved with a pink inlay....Dad had them made for Dee a few years ago.. With the safe shutoff...after the first pass she made , I knew it had to be in the ignition..It had done the same thing to me at the BASH. As Doug and I were looking over the ign. menu, I spotted it in the list..and said "That's GOT to be it." I'm just glad we found it quickly..
