Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
I would call it a good price with the free shipping. It's deffenitly on the lower end of the price scale.

any reccomendations of a cam ?off the shelf wise ? id rather not go custom grind ect ....this is just to get an engine to use for now. id like to build a better setup down the road
but rather be racing than being a JACK STAND RACER

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
as stated before
heads are eddy cj rpm 75 cc port heads out of the box cnc port entrys
kb hyper 10.7.1 i think with these heads or 10.5.1
truck rods with arp bolts
stock crank
1050 dommy
viktor intake
1.76 gear glide
gonna try to gear is to trap 6200-6500 MAX rpm
will be a total dog but
should be able to run local 10.50 index class or maybe the 10.00

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
Just get the converter above the torque peak and it will leave. That's as or more important than the gear.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
prob going to run
29.5x10.5 or 28x10.5
going to try to calculate the rear gearing for the best rpm to try to safe the rods ...6200-6500 max
trap speed for 10.00 index is 130-35 mph most cars its seems n/a obviously less for 10.50 index
car should weigh 2800 lbs with me in it guessing car is light being a fairmont

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
I would hold on the 4:10 gear with a 29.5 tire and a glide might just be what you want

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
A converter with very little slippage the 4.10 will be close. A 4 speed would be right on the money. Any lower numerical gearing will start hurting you on the 60' ft. A 6.56 :1 final is high for a small engine and lower compression.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
I ran that cam in my 69 stang with a 460 and home ported dove heads. I found if you shift around 6200-6000 rpms , it will work the best. pulls really hard at 3800- 6 ish

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
If upgraded to offshore h beams ...would you get more aggressive on cam ?
Anyone have h beams they wanna sell ? For price probably worth doing for insurance lol
Would you still use that same cam ?

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
as you have seen me post this engine is not most ideal build more or less using what i have for now ....
on rods can anyone tell me what these are ? worth the money vs my stock truck rods ? i assume these are pro comps ?

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
Put the rods in it, and leave everything the same. Those rods aren't the best but they are , as far as I'm concerned a ton better than stock rods you have no idea what they have been through or how many cycles are on them.
If you ever pull it down to freshen, you then if money is there to put flat tops in it and go to a roller and make good power.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
When you check the ring gap make sure you use the ring gap KB calls for unless it is smaller than what the rings call for so use the largest gap. I called them when I was setting up my 552 they told me to use the largest gap out of two or I could loose a ring lad.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
I have not seen mentioned what valve springs you have on your heads? PEP and Cat come up when the Falcon rods are mentioned, but not much info out there on them.

Roller springs in heads are original and being replaced with new ones
