Re: Header Gaskests?
I have not used gaskets in years. High Temp Silicone. I prefer the Ultra Copper. Put a good bead on the head, install header and just snug it down. Let it cure overnight and then tighten it down the rest of the way.

Re: Header Gaskests?
That's funny, 'cause I've thought about using the red or copper high-temp silicones if I ever have a problem with gaskets... I've used the metal faced Fel-Pro's forever, and never had an issue... In fact, the ones that are on my 521 are on their 3rd season, & have been re-used from my 466 2 years ago, and after the re-fresh this past spring on my current set-up... Guess I'm one of the lucky ones... ...

Re: Header Gaskests?
I have always used the Felpro racing gaskets. Like all gaskets you need to keep the two surfaces tight or they will blow out. I will have to try the silicone next time after reading this.

Re: Header Gaskests?
I'm using REMFLEX and they're great. I tried Hi Temp Red on my old motor and it worked, but looked kind of ugly so I used gaskets this time!

Re: Header Gaskests?
I have to give the FelPro HP gasket the nod.
Been on the 429 in the Highboy for many years (could be 10) had a bolt fall out and I have not yet had a leak, including taking the headers off and on several times.

Re: Header Gaskests?
I'm also using the Fel-Pro 1420 Header gaskets and have used them for years.I had my headers off over the weekend to put some paint on them.I reused the gaskets again and they still looked pretty good,i did use a little Hi Temp copper silicone on them when i bolted them back on.Now the Fel Pro intake gaskets are a whole different story, don't get me started on them.
