Methanol builds more cylinder pressure , more liquid than air in the cylinder with methanol , liquid will not compress air will. Most of the methanol that gets in the oil is on a cold start up before the pistons expand .The moisture comes from the cold runners in the heads and intake manifold producing condensation after the engine is shut off when they warm back up and then running down to the pistons and seeping around the rings.

I have a 3 bolt Spline Drive hub from Peterson, I think Doug Rahn has the Peterson 4 bolt hub, if I remember correctly Phillip can get Peterson. The rest of the mandrel is sectional, and you can build it to your needs, style, width of belt, and how many teeth. It also has the hex head built in on the end to turn over the engine when checking and setting valves.

Good memory Rick! Mine is the 4 bolt unit. Just before my engine was built, Peterson didn't have a Ford 4 bolt unit. So Phillip had me ship my damper to them and they made a prototype for me, hence why mine is not black anodized. Nick I have the Peterson Wet/Vac pump and pull about 8-10" of vacuum with two -10 lines to the lifter valley. Works good.

/\ those 2 work the best, could have 22 to 1 and still turn it over with a 6ft pipe on a breakerbar and not brake off the bolt

This is not an opinion, but an observation.

April 8 2010 Carl/George Keown 598" A460 engine...2 X 4 T.R. 5 stage Peterson dry sump.

11.1 Hg. with gas @ 7,000 rpm.
2.5 Hg. with methanol @ 7,000 rpm
5.7 Hg. with methanol @ 7,000 rpm after increasing water temp. 20*-25*.

I'll leave it to others to explain why it is this way.

I've got some, but keep in mind I am just using a regular style Moroso puke tank. I don't have the nice Star intake/exhaust tank.
The Moroso style is what was recommended for my injection by James Monroe vs the separator style tank from Star.

so are you just hooking up a guage to ck it ? or do you have a vacuum gauge mounted in the dash to read it at all times ?

I need to put a permanent gauge, but so fair just put a temporary gauge hanging under dash. Set the pump relief and then removed it. Want I panto do is get a vac sending unit and hook it it up to my Altronics O2 Alert logger. Besides afr, rpm, egt ad voltage it has 2 open channels. I am going to log vac with one and driveshaft rpm with the other.

I have a gauge mounted on my cowl, honestly I may take it off....about the only time I think to look at it is when I warm up the car. It holds the same vacuum as it did 5 years ago lol.

Maybe thermal expansion differences in the 2 fuels methanol likes heat , port velocity slinging methanol out of suspension as the rpm increases more mass (fuel) in the port ? Surprised

Here's what we seen on my engine. Same as what Lem has seen, just a little less loss in vacuum with methanol.

641", Peterson 5 stage, EFI.

Gas @ 7000 rpm, 21"
Meth @ 7000 rpm, 18.2"

On my deal, we had a severe vacuum leak at the intake and was pulling zero vacuum. We were at 1134hp. The next day, we found the leak and fixed it. The drysump only pulled 3.2" at 4500 and about 1" at 7500 and we picked up 26 hp to 1160. We had dropped to 1152 due to some cam timing and ignition timing changes and hooked up a vacuum pump. We pulled 18.2" on that pull and power went to 1170, which is where we stopped. It wanted the cam advanced more, but we had run out of dyno time.
