vacuum pump ?
I bought a new Aerospace vacuum pump kit at the Columbus swap meet this weekend. What I want to know is how much vacuum should I set it to pull at WOT ? Or is there another way to set it correctly ?

if they havent changed there design much ...meaning the meterial of there liner you will be lucky to pull 12" at the end of the run
is it there older unit .... steel or alum. shaft ? ........... you might want to have it anodized
and remember Dan you have "GAPLESS RINGS"

I ran one on a 514 we had. It was an early model Aerospace unit, looked real nice but did not work worth a ass. I ran it one season with no luck from the pump, pulley set up or the Aerospace tech line. I completely sealed the engine up twice, last time even turned the crankshaft oil seals around backwards, managed to pull 6 - 8 inches during a run. Finally tried running the pump 1:1 on the pulleys in which Aerospace said no way, that I would turn the pump into junk............. Way I looked at it already was junk. It did pull a whopping 10" that way. Finally took it apart and the housing which was aluminum also looked like you ran threads inside of it, tore up the housing but the vanes looked good. I had a stainless sleeve put in mine and then turned the vanes over............ put it on the internet for sale and bought a Moroso 4 vane.......... never had another minutes problem out of the Aerospace deal
That was about 6 years ago, I am sure they have the bugs worked out by now.

Re: vacuum pump ?
I've heard the same thing about those pumps. We ran a 3 vane Moroso on the smallblock for years and it pulled 16" no problem even underdriven a whole lot. Had it apart this week and still looks new inside.

Re: vacuum pump ?
My 4 vane has been on 3 different motors, all pulled good vacuum without the seals turned backwards. They also required a relief valve to get the vacuum to the place I wanted it. When I started the engine at an idle it was pulling 12-14, I would say they would have pulled in the 20 inch range with no relief valve.
No complaints on the Moroso here,
