Re: 598 SCJ Build
Just got it off the dyno. Had a few hiccups, but all is well. I had to use a set of dyno headers 2 inch primary/3.5 collector because my headers contacted the dyno frame. THe dyno headers were standard size port(not CJ) so I think that hurt it some. Would've liked to try some better headers but that was all that was available. There dyno is about 3-5% more conservative than most as well. With that being said would anyone be interested in guessin the hp an torque?

Dyno results
This was the best hp pull. I really wanted to break 1000 but It didn't happen. I'd say it would have been really close with a set of 2.125 to 2.25 stepped headers with the CJ flange. The dyno headers were blocking around .125 around the whole top of the port, I would think that hurt some power but that is speculation only.

Rolled her out of the garage and started mocking everything up. That's the car, the engine, and Bubba and Carlee. Bubba put one of the headers on, he rounded a bolt off lol

Re: 598 SCJ Build
Fantastic results!
You were certainly correct - your cylinder head guy knows what he is doing.
Good flow numbers too
Good looking Mustang.
Should be well into the 8's
Cheers

derek528 wrote:The short block is now assembled. Cam is in, it's 3.5 degrees advanced. Next weekend we will assemble the heads. Pushrod lengths ended up at 9.050 intake, and 9.150 exh. Geometry looks good with the crane gold wide body rockers, we ended up with .830 gross valve lift, when measured off the retainer.
I did get some flow numbers. They ran the same cnc program on another set of heads. The customer decided to have them flowed. The only difference is that my heads have a 2.25 valve and the ones they flowed use the original 2.20 valve.
I don't have all the numbers, but the heads flowed 377 at .500, and 403 at .800 w/ 2.20 valves. I don't know what mine flow with the 2.25 valve, I'd guess slightly more. The exh ports were less impressive at 220 cfm without a test pipe. The bowls are pretty big on the exhaust, that hurts the flow numbers when not using a pipe, and they didn't have a test pipe handy to use for the test.
All in all I'm very pleased with the headwork, I think it's going to make pretty decent power.
I see you are at .830" gross lift on the intake side....so, you did not use the 281*/.470" lobe?

No. The composite head gaskets were not up to the task. They seeped in the cylinders while it sat and the rings stuck in the pistons. Engine is torn apart now.
