Cracked Premier IDT Eliminator Block

Perhaps a poor choice of words? The point I was trying to make
was that the block was NOT a manufacturing, machining, or
quality problem. It was exactly what it was manufactured for,
an Industrial model. As an Industrial model it was a nice high
quality piece. The problem was it was sent to me as a Premier
model. So it was NOT siamese and never designed for my bore
size. Which is why it cracked.

... i would say this, even if a customers block comes in the shop, and they are wanting a major over-bore to the size you have, we perform a complete sonic test, with 2 different testers before the block ever gets in the V30 CNC ...

... not saying its their fault, but in most cases that should have been caught at the machine shop ... imo ...

I received my new replacement Premier block on Monday. Its
a beautiful piece and its obvious its siamese with the freeze plugs
out (although I will sonic test it ). Eliminator stood behind their
product and proved to be a stand up, first rate, truly reputable company!!!
They answered and returned all my calls and kept me up to date on a
weekly basis. Although it took some time, they came thru and replaced
my cracked non-siamese block for free and took care of the S&H
both directions. Mike is in the process of improving the availability
time for new castings and reducing the machining delay time.
Eliminator Products is a reputable, trust worthy, company with a
very high quality product so please support them!!!!

Someone on this site had expressed interest in trying to sleeve
and repair my old non-siamese cracked Premier block? If you are
still interested Michael Bowery now has all the matching billet caps
and fasteners to go with it. Please call Michael at Eliminator
Products.

OMG it aint over yet! Had the new replacement Premier block I just
received sonic tested at two different shops and its TOO THIN and
wont go my bore size!!! Its siamese and fine between cylinders now, but
now its too thin the outside thrust surfaces!!! Informed Mike at Eliminator
and havent heard back from him! This night mare continues.....

Back to "Unhappy Camper".

.235" at 4.485" rough bore. Going 4.650" will put it at .152".

Both of my shops want .200" for the minimum for 1000+ HP.
Even my old cracked, non-siamese block I returned was
.260" on the outside AFTER it was bored 4.650".

And for comparison my other motor (the hemi), also a Premier
block, sonic tests .315" in the same location AFTER its been
bored 4.610".

First off IDT is not Eliminator, they are 2 different companies.

Second we BBF guys only have 4 choices for blocks

1) Stock
2) Ford Racing A460
3) C&C Aluminum
4) or Eliminator

I'm thinking we shouldn't be saying down with any of them, we just need to help eliminator out to get everything strait and right. Going on a witch hunt and spouting out all kinds of negitives on the internet isn't going to help any of us out. Watch out what you wish for because you might just be cutting your own off...........

Sorry Dr.dray I didn't mean to piss anyone off. I Do know what with all the money in that guys motor.he's got to be going through stress management by now. I just am just trying to say. That sucks!

Sorry to hear this Rich, you've had a rough go around as of late. keep your sanity brother.

Wait and see what Eliminator says. Sounds like a casting issue that he may not be aware of. Things like this happen when you don't control or perform every step of the process yourself.

Look on the bright side, You may have helped him solve an issue he would've never known about or someone else would've found out about the hard way.

Talked with Michael at Eliminator Products today and
he assures me he will send me another replacement
Premier block as soon as he works out some availability
issues. So I'll be patient.....

Good luck Rich! I'd be short circuiting right now if it was me. Things just seem to keep snowballing when they start down hill. I hope it all gets worked out for you brother!

YIPPIE!!!!!
This week I received another replacement Premier block
from Eliminator Products! It is siamese AND passes sonic
testing! Its a keeper!!!! So I can finally start putting my
new car back together again. As you may recall I've been down
since June when the original non-siamese block cracked.

So once again I have to say hats off to Michael Bowery at
Eliminator Products! Although he had some availability problems
he was working out, he stood behind his product and replaced it
TWICE! Proving Eliminator Products IS a stand up, first rate, truly
reputable company!!!
