1980 F150 4x4 Engine swap
Ok thinking about swapping out the 300 I6 out of the 1980 F150 to the 78 460 I have laying around. My question is there aanyone other than JBG that sells a complete engine swap kit?

Never heard of JBG but L&L products does. I used their mounts and headers when I swapped in to my 86. It was a 2wd but I believe they do 4wd for those years as well. The headers were nickel plated and not cheap at the time but this was about 15 years ago now (holy crap the time has gone by fast )

Awesome Jones. My headers came from maddog. Fit pretty good. And have 2" primary tubes. I don't know what you will do for mounts. My truck had a 351 so I just used the solid mounts from trans dapt.

Looks like that makes it easy for you. Are you going to "fix up" the 460?

Jones, you need to find an F250/350 with a 460 in a junk yard and get the frame stands and motor mounts. The will bolt directly into the F150 frame.

I'm expecting them to change for next season but as of now they are pretty simple. Stock suspension, iron head, 14" vac. Stateline is the same but 13". I'm hoping next years rules include factory heads and block. I'm ready for an a460 deal. I'll put a nasty stock class engine on you

The ones at JBC (Jeff's bronco graveyard?) are L&L iirc.

I'd do a C6 if I were you, because mud and clutches don't always go together real well. Another plus is that you can use as many gears in the auto that are necessary, and with a 4sp, you will never be able to shift and keep the momentum.

Re: 1980 F150 4x4 Engine swap
Racing isn't the major goal for the truck, I'd just like to be able to do it if I wanted too. I want the truck to be fun and reliable. It would still have to pull my aluminum trailer and SxS. I don't want the project to snowball into a full out world beater. I'm ok with taking second or third and still be able to drive to and from the track.

Made any progress yet??? It WOULD be very cool to drive to the track..have some fun..and then go home. In our Race Pits, I don't think you'll have any problems doing just that. The Bog pit is a different story all together!

Getting a budget togather on exactly how much it will take to get it all done. I've been talking to a man about a horse and the ball is in his court. Don't know what class i'd be legal for. It's no problem, it would be just like running my Ranger. (it would be funny if my sxs was faster, 10sec in 200ft) Give Tommy a run for his money in the Dakota.
