2013 Ford Thunder Race

I know it's a ways off but I talked to Blake yesterday and he said US43 was interested in doing the Ford Thunder again,but maybe either earlier or later so it will be cooler.I had a great time even with 100 degree temps.I for one would be happy to go there again.I thought they did the best they could with the high temps.I think it was the heat not the track that was the problem as far as getting down it.I myself made over 30 5.90s-6.00 passes without a problem.Just wondering Nick, are you going to try to put these two races together?I thought it worked well this year.Just thought I would put it out there before Nick sets a date for the shootout.I think having the races together would be a bigger draw for both.Just my two cents.

I would prefer something in the early fall of next year. The later the better! I hate the heat!!!

No kidding, that parking lot was a scorcher. I think my truck said 102 when I moved it.

several tracks are in consideration, i spoke to us 43 several weeks ago about having another event or events and we are on standby -----

i just want to be on someones 2013 schedule asap ........ so it gives us as much time as possible to promote and gather sponsors for the next 2 races.

Only one race scheduled on my track this next year. You all are welcome to use it, but you might need tires with a little more "bite" one them.

I hope there is a heads-up piperack race on the schedule..No matter where or when it is..

I will go if it's scheduled in time so as too get vacation time. Not in the summer heat or the spring rain though. Gitter done

i just talked to russell and he's up for end of april or first of may i know they dont want another "hot date" let me know if i can help......

do i in the fall, its cooler n drier......... late april early may is the heart of chase season, sorry but priorities come first lol.

we talked about that too and it works for me. some break their shit and cant race or they're just burnt out by then soooo...........anytime works for me

the time of the year was fine and the heat was ok 4 me......my question was why did they have everything in the middle of the day with the hi temps?..........i know the track has lights and would have made it moor bareable 4 everyone.

around here they keep a tight schedule in the summer or when its hot.

start at 6pm with 1rd of tnt.
then go in to 1st round Qf depending on the classes running and let the bracket racers follow that with another round of tnt.
then it repets its self for 2 moor rounds.
usually you are racing by 8pm and hopefully done by11pm

I wonder if I can pull three trailers this year. Got my 545 in and running in my woody truck. Any word on if we're doing it at us43 and when?

The last I heard, you had a 514 FRPP crate motor assembly you were putting together for installation and were just contemplating the rear gear ... must be, a lot has changed, LOL.

Nick you will probably get dates around mid December,I have already been talking with BJ about my race for next year and he said NHRA and IHRA have meetings with the track owners late November early December and they have to plan out their own events before anyone gets dibs. Be patient, the trick is to be just persistant enough but not be annoying LOL

I offered Nick to join in the deal I have up here if he wants to, I have the track and date and next year we are running all classes 1/8 mile to encourage some more southern gentlemen to make the trek.

im sure we could get a date here at shadyside in nc.ronnie buff is the track owner his contact info is at the bottom of the page.vp delivers fuel here every thursday so what you need wont be an issue.we just had a race here this passed weekend and it was a packed house.their is 3 levels of parking upper level has plenty of open grass area for those that want to camp.plenty of hotels 5-10 miles from the track in shelby and the serounding area.
no matter what type of raceing you are in to it has been here at one time or the other.

Wes supposedly Nick has something in the works, I can get US 43 again if needed. I just don't want to wait till it's too late to start on it though.

Maybe Nick will give us an update soon.

Also I like Larry T's idea that if we do end up racing in a warmer month, just race at night. Start qualifying a 6pm or whatever and race till 11pm. They do that at Famoso here in CA all the time during the summer months--just too hot during the day.

i mentioned something in the thread with Jon , i have asked several tracks including us43 and have heard no responce back , i will free up in jan/feb and start working on it again ........

but in the mean time Blake can get the event going if he wishes if just been very busy with my work , family .... sorry guys
