Maybe Nick will give us an update soon.
i mentioned something in the thread with Jon , i have asked several tracks including us43 and have heard no responce back , i will free up in jan/feb and start working on it again ........
but in the mean time Blake can get the event going if he wishes if just been very busy with my work , family .... sorry guys
Nick,
My reply was not meant as a shot a you..Sorry if you took it that way..
How about this ???....
While you're working on the "big" race... Maybe we could also be working on some other dates/ tracks for "smaller" get togethers ??
I know thru -out the year, there has been talk about getting together at more races then just the" Bash" or the "Thunder " race..
Just an idea...

It will be run as 1/8 mile , it was a 1/4 mile track in the 70 's went broke and turned into an air strip , a top fuel racer is rebuilding it so the local crowd figures it will have 1000' lights time will tell, plenty of room for 1/4 though.

Randy,
I need a little help with my memory here, but is that the old "Lone Oak" Dragstrip?

Looks like they might be taking them down, or putting up new ones.

Re: 2013 Ford Thunder Race
Charlie i have not heard it called that , the only name i have heard is farington and paducah raceway. The new name will be Beacon raceway . Its just across the road from paducah international raceway dirt track. Its only about 15 miles from the Lone Oak town though.

Here you go....
Re: 2013 Ford Thunder Race
Looks like 4 x8 wooden rails being replaced with steel armco or the other way around...
Re: 2013 Ford Thunder Race
I've made contact with both concrete and guardrails...both tear up shit.It doesn't bother me to race with guardrails.I never think about hitting thembruno wrote:why do tracks continue to use guardrails ......... they should be shut down , and shouldnt be allowed on a new facility

X2
Bruno, what would you do when all the small tracks that have guardrails shut down and there's no place to race ??
ALOT of it can be stopped , if the driver doesn't try to be John Force and know when to quit on a pass...

My thoughts exactly I can understand Nicks concerns though, after seeing some of his videos and watching it at Windy Hollow. And it wasn't BAD track conditions either.

Re: 2013 Ford Thunder Race
I think they should all have "safer barriers" like the NASCAR walls however, the money for them just isn't there.
I have seen a lot of tracks with guard rails and 4 feet thick of old tires stacked-up against them. Promotors don't seem to like that even though the cost is down because it doesn't look pretty.
In the USA these days, it seems to be only about what shows, not about what works; in any walk of life.
