A few C6 questions
I brought the C6 I am going to use in my truck home about a year ago. Since then it has sat. I belive it did have fluid in it when I brought it home.
But anyway, would it be a good idea to rebuild it?
Where would be a good place to get parts? I know Broader Performance is a good one, but what about TCI? Id like to do some shopping around and see whats out there. For the forseable future this transmission will not see over 400 hp. I don't need anything "race duty"

TcI NO NO! Trans go Makes a good valve body kit in my opinion. BTE sales a good rebuild kit for the money . For that hp a stock rebuild with a good shift kit will do fine..A deep trans pan and good trans cooler. Hope This helps and good luck!
Jay is a super nice guy and smart good parts @ broader performance.

Re: A few C6 questions
Looks like rebuild kits run about $350 out there.
Then I need a short output shaft. $150ish.
Besides that I need a radiator. $225.
Thats $725. Almost my entire rebuild budget.
I put a add on CL looking to trade my long tail c6 for a short one.
It would save me a crapola load of cash if it doesn't need to be rebuilt. I could easily make a adapter mount so it wold bolt in, and swap out the shift and kickdown levers for the proper ones. (Which I would have to do anyway since I am sticking with the column shifter in my truck)
Anybody know what to look for to tell if the transmission is bad or not?

Thanks for that link.
So tho it sat for a year, if it was in good shape between then and now it should be ok? Just look at the condition of the fluid and the filter?

Re: A few C6 questions
Im thinking
The time it has sat, it has been filled with fluid. I was going to pull
the valve body, clean it up. Give a quick look at what insides I can
see. Replace output seal. Drain converter. Fill converter and
transmission with fresh fluid.
If the fluid smells burnt or is a funky color or there is any metal in the pan then I will surely do a rebuild.

Re: A few C6 questions
I would just change the fluid and run it. They are very durable for stock applications so I doubt that it will need a rebuild. If anything the governor will be stuck but that is an easy fix with the C6. PM if you need help. I like the BTE parts as well.
