Eco-boost Fuel Milage Empty Eco-boost Fuel Milage

Post  lghting94 December 11th 2012, 5:17 pm

I am doing some comparisons for work on trucks and fuel milage and was wondering what kind of actual milage some of you guys are getting? I need this preferably for extended cab or 4-door 4x4 f-150's not towing. I personally drive a 2011 F-150 with a 5.0 and am getting between 17-19 around town driving.

Exactly what I am seeing 17-19 mixed, 2011 f150 FX4 crew 5.0 with 3.73 gears. I frequent the Ford F150 forum and that seems the norm. The EB guys all seem to be loving the TQ of the TT but hate the mileage. I think Ford finally came out with a TSB to cure the EB from shutting down when you really need it, either one should do well.

Eight miles @ 55 mph with five stops, E-way for 10 miles @ 73 mph. I can say a set of 295/60r20's 34x11.5-20 Nitto trail grapplers will cut mileage close to 3.8 mpg, they lasted a week before I went back to factory size.

My trip to work is 12.5 miles but I am out in the truck all day running from house to house all over the countys we serve. My company truck was recieved in may 2011 and has 31000 miles on it already.

My boss and I were discussing if it wouldve been worth while to pay the upgrade to get an ecoboost truck when we bought mine because milage was suppose to be better than the 5.0. He is going to be getting a truck next year and is considering an ecoboost if the milage is better than mine.

I bought one at work for a test bed also, the last truck we had on a this route which is a route were we look at every piece on equipment on our systems power lines was a 5.4 F-250. So it is a start and stop route with lots of mileage, every route is eight hrs or better.

The 250 averaged 9.1 mpg over a years time, the new ECO Boost loaded the same weight is averaging over 15.5 so far in about 6 months worth of routes. And the power is unbelievable.

Being that I'm a Ford dealer and have observed many dozens of F150s, both employee and customer driven, there aint fly poop difference in the fuel milage.

If one is the kind of guy that drives his truck like he's mad at it......the 5.0 will be better on milage. Typical deal......keep it in boost most of the time and chew ass because it won't do 20 mpg Rolling Eyes
