flex fuel filter change

Been working on my 2002 suburban put new quarter panel and rocker on an painted now working on the maintence new tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm , shocks, brakes, plugs & wires, now im to the fuel filter its a flex fuel system and the filter doesnt have room for the tool to fit in place to release the connector has anyone played with the GM flex filter here there is a specal tool to remove these
