Ok, I just wanted to follow up on this thread and state that I moved the fitting from the front of the valve cover to the top (similar to Wheelie58) and I can say the problem is completely gone. I made 6 passes this last Saturday and checked the tank after every 2 passes, and there was only drops of oil coming out (vs 100ml like before!). Very happy about that. Thanks for the suggestions.

Here is a picture--that small square piece of sheetmetal with the rivets is where I had the line for the vacuum pump, and it was sucking up a bunch of oil. I moved it to the top of the same valve cover, everything is fine now. Just for reference.
