Vacuum Pump Question....
I am getting ready to have new headers made for my truck, and I am debating ditching my vacuum pump, and just using a header evac system. I bought the truck turnkey, and it already had a Moroso Vac. Pump installed. After buying it, I learned that Vacuum Pumps on wet sump BBF's were pretty much a no-no, but I figured it had been running that way for a while and it obviously hadnt hurt anything, so I decided to leave it on. But now that I am going to be getting these new headers made, i'm wondering if now would be a good time to have a more "BBF friendly" header evac system put on? I'm not sure weather I should leave the pump on, or change it over to the header evacs, so I wanted to ask everyones opinion here on what to do??

I'd keep the vacuum pump.

I had heard about the pumps causing issue with oiling especially on wrist pins ect, but maybe that was when guys tried to pull 15#, mine only pulls 5#, thats where the guy who set up the motor had it set when I bought the truck, and its been fine. Doesn't pull hardly any oil into the puke tank, so all seems to be good.

Keep it! I can't say for sure what mine pulled but it was set up to pull 12" max and had no problems.

Re: Vacuum Pump Question....
Header evac can make it look like you blew your motor on every pass...might even help to one day, the vac pump shows you in liquid what was removed from the system the evac shows you in smoke.

Re: Vacuum Pump Question....
My truck isn't a race truck.... I do race it but it doesn't have a roll bar it's more of a cruiser... The engine a mild built 460 with nitrous, has a overdrive trans with 3.89 and a true trac.... It's a 11.50 truck has been a best of 11.33 N/A with a 125hp hit best is 6.71 1/8 and 10.54 1/4

Re: Vacuum Pump Question....
Here are some pics of mine, its a '48 its got an Art Morrison Tube chassis, with a 514 and glide combo. Weighs 2980 with me in the seat... I didn't build it, I bought it, but i've worked on the chassis to get it running better. It needs a paint job, just not sure what color??
