460 fox questions Empty 460 fox questions

I have a 89 lx 'vert with a 5.0. The car was givin to me awhile back ago. The car runs and drives perfect but, I have a 460 out of a 87 f250 and a c6 transmission. I want to make a moddest (for big blocks) 375-400hp and over 400tq to the wheels. I feel it would be easier to do so and cheaper with a bbf and have a lot more room to grow if ever decided. I'm not too formillier with bbf. What I'm wanting to do with the car is have a bracket racer that I can drive to and from the track. What I would like to know, would dove heads, decent cam, decent alum I M and carb with good headers extra get me there or will I have to more? Would the swap be worth it?

With the cylinder heads and manifolds and cam's today I wouldn't do it ....that bbf will add 300#s ....just my opinion

For your very modest goals the small block will meet them just fine and be alot cheaper and less envasive to the car.

i agree a small block with a good head and cam combo would be the way to go, although i went with the bbf in mine and the torque is hard to beat. i love being able to rip on it at 30mph and still lay tracks. mine makes about 375hp and 500tq but im getting to where i want to up the power. the swap is easy the hardest part is getting an adaquate cooling system thats reliable on the street. youre forced to run an electric fan and i hate them. id much rather have a clutch fan thats always on.
