SBF stuff
I know this is a BBF forum and I have those but I also have a 420 stroker sbf that I need some hook-ups on. Who on here is good with those also. I need to send my heads out for a bad-azz valve job and spring set-up for a custom roller nos cam that needs to be made for a 250 hit as well as maybe some porting on the intake and heads even though the heads are cnc ported already. would like to make 600 ish hp and some good torque on the motor and then spray it.

Which heads? Which intake? Doesn't take much port at all to make 600.

pro comp intake, copy of the vic jr intake and Pro-comp alum. 220 CNC heads. The cam I will need someone to cut me a good roller grind NOS compatible. Heads need valves and springs yet. 2.08/1.60 compression with these heads and the -12cc dish srp pistons will be about 11-1 maybe a tick more. I still need to figyre it out to a T

What compression ? Have the intake and heads port matched and have both ported. What block and what is the bore size ?

With only a 250 shot I would just cam the engine. The small block pro comp are better performers than their big block counter parts. Still not the greatest though. Put a 255 265 on a 108 in it. That grind will run in anything and make good power. Then when you have money for a set of heads that deserve a good cam buy a good custom one at that time.

I have a set of heads on my shelf that will make 675-700 with that short block with the right cam. We made 675 at 9.5:1 with them on about 50 less cubes.
But in all honesty I would call up bullet cams or someone and just get a decent NA cam.

Re: SBF stuff
Procomp/RHS arent they the same company? Anyways these heads are someone else CNC program and thats all I know about them. They look pretty nice to start with and figure someone could take them and touch them up a bit and put a nice race valve job into them. Not looking for a amax effort deal just a stout 600-700 na then spray it some. What heads would u suggest, maybe can afford some nice used ones for the right price and sell these casting.IDT-572 wrote:With only a 250 shot I would just cam the engine. I just bought a set of AFR's from TRE performance here is a link and the best prices.
http://treperformance.com/
Summit and everyone else are 4 to 6 weeks out on AFR heads.
Cam it for all you can on motor and then whatever you get on the hose is a plus
Duration @.050 in the mid 260s to mid 270 range .690 to .710 lift and no more than .720 108 or 107 lobe seperation and install on a 106 or 104 intake centerline if you go with the AFR heads. My opinion

I have big TFS-R heads but for the price of those AFR's I would just get them. I will sell you mine but I would have to get about the same price as the new AFR's. the port work and valve job I have in mine is not cheap. Good luck!

Yes I have a pump gas 10.5:1 205 AFR Headed 393W that I mix 93 with 110 , but the last time out it had straight 93 in it and ran its best time with the current compression ,carb ,and cam combo. Good luck and glad to help

Not sure on the power but in the 1/8th mile with current set up it has gone 6.80 at 101 mph with 1.44 60ft 3000lb car on 275 /60/15 m/t drag radials 4.11 gear 5000 8'' converter. That is going up hill! lol 1/4 Mile was 10.76 at 126 mph. This is with dish pistons with 2 valve reliefs and the piston down in the hole .007.
With the old cam and 950 carb it went 6.90 at 104mph 1/8th mile and wasn't consistant.
First set up with flat tops went 6.72 at 103mph 1/8 with 4500 9.5 converter with above cam and carb
