Ive been trying to find a single plane intake that will fit under the hood of my 72 Gran Torino. I dont think a torker intake will give me the performance that Im looking for. Is there anything out there thats similar to an edlebrock performer RPM airgap but with a single plane instead of a dual?

With all of the heft of the Gran torino you would do well with an RPM intake. It will support more than 600 HP.

A torquer ll will give up some low end and tip in response.

build specs?

Im looking at putting .030 over pistons with ceramic coated crowns in there along with a mechanical roller cam, only off the shelf cam I can find is a comp cams .060/.067 lift, 236/242 dur @ .050, and 110 lsa but Id prefer to have it ground on a 108 lsa with 252/258 dur @ .050 to reduce detonation problems and pick up a bit more power. The old 302 got her down the road with a c4 and 3.25 gears in quite a hurry so I figure this 429 with a 5 speed stick and 3.50 gears should bring the store to me instead of me going to the store, lol. As for track times Im kinda hoping to be pretty deep into the 12 second range with a full interior and good shifts. Im ok with using an airgap but I just like the feeling of having my motor really wake up at around 3k rpm.

With good breathing cylinder heads (no i dont mean small valve doves...) that combo will make just about 500 HP. It is very similar to my cyclone spoilers 429. I did 414 RWHP with a top loader and 9.8 to 1 c/r, rpm intake, 236/248 solid flat tappet, hooker headers etc,,, mid 12's at 110 mph.

The solid roller will help but you better have some good cylinder heads to make your goals...

I've got a 69 cougar with a 429 and torker II intake just did a personal best of a 11.90 @113 and I am sure there is more left.
429
10.5 compression
258/260 .640/.640 solid cam
torker II intake. 850 holley
Procomp heads.. I'm sure good doves would be better.

I dont see why you cant get your car to run 12's But I think the key wil be a good fuel system. Stock stuff probably wont cut it.

Im not sure what ill need for fuel delivery, might have to salvage the fuel lines off of the donor car, but then again... Im not sure what size valves I can stuff up into those heads, any light I can get on that would be great. Im sure there are tons of little odds and ends that I can mod in order to free up a little power here and there like accessories, I plan on running a mechanical water pump, alternator, and power steering. Also read that a really good oil pan can be worth asd much as 40hp just from keeping the excess oil from wraping itself around the crank and whatnot.
