sounds like you need to back to the drawing board on most of these engines ...... this 3.5 could have used another year of field testing instead of spending all that bs money on doing 1000 laps at the oval track ...just saying

I said it earlier. GTDI, ( gas turbo direct injection) I feel more real world testing should have been done. Lots of little issues got away and should not have.

I suspect that Adam may have been the 1st person to have R & R a 6.7L turbo that had 90,000 or more miles on it in the field. Relative to the Naples thing.....he had told me that Ford was flying him all over the country replacing the 6.7 turbos...which I incorrectly assumed was that they were defective units. Ford had several test 'mules' in fleets over the country in the older trucks.
The wife and I were in St. Pete Fl. several years ago and Adam was doing a R & R in Naples and cruised up to St Pete, spent less than an hour before he had to get on the road but, I learned that the turbos were not failed....Ford wanted to send the units to the suppliers to evaluate.
Fabio...you may be the winner of this competition but you aint got a paper tiger.

then who the hell built that heap...? all this new shit runs great for the first 50k miles after that all the stupid issues, inter coolers, the cooked cats, def pumps, def sending units, turbos, short blocks, long blocks, now just replace the valves w no attention to the valve seat...WTF? 6.2L for the win !!!!blown86hallet wrote:To bad they were not ford engines. how many exh valves you put on a 7.3? or even 6.o 6.4?

TSB 11-12-14
Highlights from TSB:
Issue: Some F-Super Duty F-250-450 pickuptruckvehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may experience an engine shudder with or without turbo flutter noise around 900-1400 RPM with steady throttle. The issue may be more noticeable at high elevation, high ambient temperature and/or when driving up a slight incline. The concern is not present during regeneration or while using cruisecontrol. Some vehicles that exhibit the concern may set diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299.
Service Procedure: 1) Check all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs). Are any DTCs present other than the P0299?
Yes - This article does not apply, refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostic (PC/ED) Manual and continue with normal diagnostics.
No - Proceed to Step 2.
2) Using the IDS, take a recording of the event. Enter data logger and select the following pids:
MAP_A (psi), MAF_A (g/s), EBP (psi)
RPM, APP1 (%), VGTDC (%)
EGRTP_CMD (%)
DPF_REGEN_STAT
3) Road test vehicle and duplicate the concern.
4) Make a recording of the event.
5) Review the recording taken and compare it to figure one located and the end of the article. Does the recording show MAF_A fluctuation with APP1 steady like the figure provided?
Yes - Replace the turbocharger. Refer to WSM section 303-04D.
No - This article does not apply, refer to PC/ED for normal diagnostics.

TSB 12-5-12
ISSUE:
Some 2011-2012 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 5/15/2012 may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0181. Refer to the Calibration Content for additional calibration updates.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Please run Oasis using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to search for open Field Service Actions (FSA) and claim reprogramming updates against open FSA's when applicable. The latest level includes all previous enhancements released in prior calibration levels.
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) and the transmission control module (TCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 79.01 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2012.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at Buy Motorcraft Parts Online | Official Motorcraft Auto Parts Site | FordParts.com.
NOTE: PLEASE ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
The Calibration Update Contains Improvement Actions And Enhancements To Address The Following:
False DTC P0181 (fuel temperature sensor A circuit range/performance)
Previously Released - Calibration Content
Included in IDS software release 74.03 and higher contained improvement actions and enhancements to address the following:
