moroso oil pan level? Empty moroso oil pan level?

Post  powerstrokeace Thu 30 May 2013, 10:34 pm

guy's as some of you know I blew up a motor 4 weeks ago and pick up a friends spare. he swears that he was running 10 quarts of oil. but the Moroso web site says its a 7 quart pan and a quart for the filter is 8 quarts. The reason i ask is its pushing oil out the rear of the pan/rear main in just 6-7 runs. I'm going to clean the mess up once i get in the trailer an move the cars around as i need to remove the diaper and while I'm at it I'm pulling 1 1/2 quarts out. I was hoping to test this weekend to tune this a little more as he on was running 30 degrees of timing here at the 5800 elevation.

Was with the old motor but this pan will not allow me to install it. It mounts next to the pan on the left side but with the kick out I can't .

I recently got that pan for my 488. We filled the pan with oil while it was off to see how much oil would fit. You can get almost 8 quarts in the pan before it starts to get close to the bottom of the windage screen, then figure another quart or 2 for filter and the rest of the oil system, you could technically run almost 10. But in my particular application where I'm running a mud truck and have a ton of sloshing around, we just went with 8 total quarts. Just my thoughts...

If HE was indeed running a 3qt. accu, then he probably was indeed running 10 qts. 3 qts. stays in the accu. most of the time though.

And you can mount the accu somewhere that is more convenient.
