Tubular strut tower forward
Anybody know who makes a good kit to replace frame/radiator support from the strut towers forward with lightweight tubular stuff on the sn95 mustangs?

Thats where I'm leaning just want to see something to go by. My biggest concern is it being strong enough to mount the engine via motor plate yet still be able to drop some nose weight. As well as not twisting the frame on launch.

Strong enough shouldn't be a problem, as it isn't difficult to make things stiffer than the factory setup. Like Jon said, fire up the welder.

Nope but may have one soon. Rubber trans mount now. Maybe a mid plate will take my worries of frame flex out of the equation. Just have to shim the converter to compensate.

Re: Tubular strut tower forward
The problem with making a kit is that you can take five different mustangs and get five different measurements. We tried to make a kit for fox bodies and sn95's but this was the problem we ran in to. Unless you just get silly, you can save some weight but not as much as people really think. The biggest weight savings is in the rear of the car and doors. Not really that big of a deal as most cars could use the decrease in rear percentage to make these stock suspension deals really work right.

Looks nice. What are your plans to tie the strut tower in?

Water jetting some brackets to tie the strut towers to the bar. Once complete, the top of the strut tower that was left to mock up the fenders will be gone and fenders will be dzus fastened.

With a removable front end, pulling plugs will be so much easier. I think I'm more excited about how much easier it will be to wrench on at the track than the weight loss

Yeah. Funny how it's easier to remove the car from the spark plugs than remove the plugs from the car.

Re: Tubular strut tower forward
Does the class you plan on running require to leave the stock strut tower in place? If not why not just completely remove it and make the upper strut mount part of the forward struts? I like your enginuity just curious.

You got it. Stock suspension class requiring stock mounting locations and stock frame rails from motor plate back.bigblok2000ranger wrote:Does the class you plan on running require to leave the stock strut tower in place?
