1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
These are both mustangs but one is a fox and the other is a sn. Is both struts the same? I got the spindles off the sn hooked and want to know if the fox struts bolt up to the sn spendle.

They will work just need to shim the Fox struts at the spindle mount.

Don't seem like the holes are matching up. I had to lower the bottom of the lower hole. I did shim them. Plus I gotta get more brake lines. For sure these struts are temps.
Thanks

As for the sn front brake and spendle setup, do the weld 31/2 rims require spacers behind them?
Thanks

With that set up you can grind the outer lip of the caliper bracket or use 1/4 spacer I can get pics for you tonight on what to grind if you like.

Re: 1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
I would not use washers use the plates so that it spreads the load....
here are the pics of what you need to grind just do get them to thin if you need to cut much just run the plate spacers.

Re: 1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
I didn't think it was gonna cost this much to go 5 lug. But anyway a 1/4 off that bar will leave it fairly thin. How thin of a plate do they offer? Maybe grind some and go with a 1/8 thick spacer. That 1/4 shouldn't stick out so far to notice, should it? So it wouldn't be good to just cut it off?
Thanks

Re: 1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
I wouldn't just cut it off it ties the out side together that bracket has already had a 1/8 trimmed off.
You can buy a 1/8 inch spacer I think most parts stores carry the 1/4 in stock or most around here do

I just did a sn95 5 lug conversion and I have never had to grind on those brackets or use spacers.
If the wheel hits those it is the wrong wheel get the right wheel.
Brakes steering and suspension are safety and you should never grind heat or bend !

Its very common for them to be ground down and some spacers.... for your first 5lug swap you did good to have the right offset wheel.
Back space and offset are different

Re: 1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
Looks like I'm having to go 5/16 plus trim some. Does the inside Dia of the spacer have to be exact for the center hub dia?
Thanks
Thanks

Not my first 5 lug maybe 21 first LOL !
If it is going fast and has to stop Fast I don't recomend grinding or spacers !
There is a purpose for that being there and it beaing that thick.

Re: 1988 4 cylinder strut v/s 1998 V6 strut
From what I recall that piece of the caliper bracket can be cut off completely... seems like a bunch of people have done it with no issues...
Also, the struts should bolt up the same. The SN95 spindle is thinner at the strut bolting point. And from what I remember the SN95 strut has approx. 1' more travel.

We cut some off one time and the bracket started opening up after around 12 pass on my nitrous car it was running 6.50s in the 1/8 and getting faster when we noticed the bracket had stress cracks.

Well so far I got the 5/16 and still had to grind some but not as much as if I was to have used th he 1/4. Now to figure out what length wheel nuts to get.
