Driver's side header is in. Just had to remove the mount. The forwar dtube slide between the frame pad and the block...

Here's some pics guys. Just got inside from getting it all done. I've got the bottom of the motor plate set even with the bottom of the front frame rails. I like the how the engine and headers sit with the engine at this height, but the steering rack will now need some custom mounts. I can't win for losing!

The headers fit fine once I cut off the frame perches like you guys told me to. The tubes go right where the frame perches and mounts went. The drivers header tubes all go between the steering shaft and the engine. I've never seen headers like this before. One tube just touches the JW Ultrabell on the driver side. I'm not worried because it's the bell for the C4. I had to pull the glide because the pass header and adapter midplate didn't like each other. I'm going to trim up a .090 thick steel midplate tomorrow and get it in there and order the bell for the glide on Monday.

The passenger headers do not hit anything with the engine at this height. If I raise it any the tubes will get into the firewall some. Tomorrow I'm going to make some motor plate sliders, get them in place and notch some more tubes for the cage. Then get my buddy to come back over and do some more welding.

X2. Make sure you have enough clearance at ride height.

They can only go up about another inch then the primaries will hit the floor right before the collector.

I'm going to stick the engine where it's at on some sliders for now. Once I get it on the ground I can shim the plate mounts up to the needed height if the headers need to come up some...

Looks good............. Get that intake plenum ported, while your working on the car. It looks like you may end up just raising the front of the engine a smidge.

Got the midplate trimmed and mounted. Came out pretty good. Engine sits lower too. Looks like the carb will clear the hood after all.

I notched the dash and rocker bars last night. Just need to get them welded in.

I'm off till Monday and am trying to finish off the rear cage bars and get all of this welded before then. It's going to be tough since the kids want to put up the Christmas decorations this weekend too...

Bumping this back up. The car sat since the end of 2009 due to a divorce and the dragster we bought, built and totalled! Anyway we just rolled the Mustang into my buddy's shop last night so we can get started back on it.

Hope to have some pics up soon of the final engine mockup and cage completion. I've finally got some room, time and motivation so I need to make the best of it. No reason why I can't get this thing running and racing in a few months. I've got everything left over from the dragster along with a pile of parts I already had for it. Should be fun to see what it does. All the racing calculators say 9.50s easy... We'll see.

I brought the car to the chassis shop Monday night. I took some pics this evening when I stopped by. It's coming along nice. He's doing the door bars, front bars, some bars going down from the down bars to the rear frame, triangulating the hoop to the down bars, wishbone, anti-roll bar and mounting the seat.

I'll have it back this weekend. Then it'll be final engine mockup time to set the plates, then I can start on the sheetmetal and plumbing.... should be a fun few months coming up.
