Valve Springs
If you move down in cam size, do you have to go down with the springs also? I have an 801 lift and want to install a 765. Would the springs be too much for the new cam?
Thanks,
Geno

Re: Valve Springs
What springs and installed height are you running now?
Most of the time it won't be a big deal, but there are exceptions.

Re: Valve Springs
The springs that were installed were Comp Cams 944-16. Seat load: 190 lbs @ 1.950 - open 747 lbs. @ 1.200' - spring rate : 743 inch lbs. - coil bind is 1.100. Hope this helps.
Thanks again

Re: Valve Springs
Those are good springs. if you installed them at 1.950 you are still pretty good shape, the .800 - lash put you at about .075 from coil bind the .765 cam is still relatively tight to that at .115, not ideal but it should work fine. you could slide a little bit of shim under the springs to get it a bit tighter.

Re: Valve Springs
Thank you dtree. I'll slip a shim in before I install the heads. Once again, Thanks

Over the nose pressure is just as important as your seat pressure..............
