Re: Just got my heads back from TEA all scratched up.....
The intake side was realy bad and my local machine shop resurfaced them and had to take .010 off the decks because of the 1 damaged deep cuts on the one head...

I agree with this statement. Deal directly with the parties involved and either come to a mutual agreement or do not ever use the service again and then give your story/experience. Also jumping from one forum to another seems odd to say the least and may actually be damaging your credibility somewhat.Paul Kane wrote:Instead, what I do see is a guy plastering his complaint all over the internet instead of negotiating his concern to some sort of mutual satisfaction directly with the second party involved.

Also this does not seem like a Engine Tech thread at all. Maybe it should be in the general section ?

c.evans wrote:Okay guys, I went to the Yellow Bullet and tried to read the 23 pages of colormebad's post. It seems to me that they weren't new heads, but used, that they dated back to 2007, were ordered by somebody else (BB&T) and that TEA bent over backwards trying to help him out. Still not sure whether the valves were Victory or Ferrea. At the end of the day, it seems to me that colormebad has a chickenshit complaint about some Scotchbrite scratches on the ends of the heads. Bottom line,,,,colormebad is the kind of customer that you can never please, even if you were Jesus Christ and perfect.

sounds legit......

Why are you saying they are brand new and in the box in the house? In this thread you're saying they have three hours run time on them. https://www.429-460.com/t18456-exh-valvecolormebad wrote:4,900 to start with..When i first bought them...They were brand new and were in the box in the house till i got ready to sit them on....Between the 2 business i have spent almost 4,000 out of pocket on 2 new blocks screwed up/head screwups..It never ends and take too long to type..I have too many friends that seen all this in person to know who the hones person is..UPS knows me well, even 2 of the ups guys are fellow racers..They have my back on the lie that the heads came that way to them..My engine was flawless
I hate to say this, but because your story changes so much, the many of the guys on here don't believe you.

TEA's response, the other side of the story.
Mike@TotalEngineAirflow
We as an organization do not believe the forums are the place to address customer concerns, but in this particular case we would like to share some facts. The intent of this response is not to start an internet battle (which I will not be involved) but merely share some additional information. First off I will call this person "owner"
rather than customer since technically I have never actually taken any money from him directly. I will also say that we do not have a written warranty on race products but an exception was made in this case. I received these "brand new/used" heads back in July that were built in 2007 with the worn valve tip issue as seen earlier in the other post on the tech forum. The valves and springs that were requested by the engine builder (who is no longer involved) is what got installed in the castings that were supplied. There were no mistakes what was ordered is what got installed and we merely did what was requested. After weeks of runaround and trying to figure out what actually happened to the tips of these valves we agreed that the right way to fix this problem was to install a new
set of valves with proper tip hardness. In order to avoid the owner from having to incur any extra expenses (pushrods, lashcap, rocker shims, stands, etc) we had Ferrea custom make a set of super alloy exhaust valves identical to his old ones that would drop in and not affect his setup in any way. When we received the heads there was some shipping damage from both heads being loosely packed in the same box. I know without pictures this never happened but
it did. Anyhow here's what we did to "TRY" to make the owner whole: we completely dis-assembled the heads, cleaned them, I apologize for the scratches on the ends my employee may have gotten a little carried away with the scotch brite I'm sure they can be polished up, and we always sand the gasket surfaces on rebuilds but they were never on a belt sander. We bumped the valve seats to insure everything was sealing, Installed the new $450.00 Custom built Ferrea valves, gave the decks a .003" surface cut, installed new intake and exhaust seals, checked all the springs and reassembled the heads. We wanted to insure the heads were perfect when they were received and would bolt on and perform flawlessly. All this was done at no $0.00 charge to the owner knowing if we didn't it would end up here. It's unfortunate that this problem ever happened in the first place and I am disappointed how everything turned out.
It certainly was not that we didn't care about him or his situation or that we were not willing to try to fix the heads or spend the money to make the heads right. I feel we did.
Our #1 goal is and always has been to give the customer the best experience possible and parts that perform as they are designed

Colrmebad ... Grow some nads , deal with the situation one on one or better yet face to face. If they were damaged in shipping back to you, you have a claim with the carrier. The new /used / worn valve tips tells me they have been on an engine and ran for some period of time ......... be it 3hrs or 3 weeks. Therefore they ARE NOT NEW and again you are not the original builder or purchaser. Hate to sound like the Coug but go play in the street kid.

Re: Just got my heads back from TEA all scratched up.....
Not that any of this is exactly like what the OP's deal is but I have had bad dealings with Trick Flow before and it took months to get my parts back because they claimed they now owned them but I finally did. I will never run any of their small block stuff again because of this. Now, their bbf stuff seems to be top notch. Was not impressed with the customer service at all.
On the other hand, I really think this situation in bs by the OP. Especially on a public forum.
