Convertor question Empty Convertor question

Post  Tore January 1st 2014, 3:56 pm

I bought a 61 Ford wagon and somebody put a C4 in and it needs a rebuild. I want to swap it out with a C6 I have here. Are the convertors the same for a C6 and a C4?

Also I have an old GER convertor from years back that worked great for the street. I had it behind a very strong 460 and it stalled about 3500 rpm.
Any idea what it will stall behind a low compression 73 460???

Thanks Tore

input shafts are different, you dan stick a c6 converter in a c4 if you use the spline adapter, wont work the other way without cutting converter open and swapping the turbine.

Thanks Rick I was wondering if anyone had a guess what this convertor would do for a low powered 460 before I put it in.

Thanks Tore

Tore, jmo, but for what you are going to use that AWESOME wagon for,I would go w/stock converter. A 3500 would build unneeded heat that your flood dosen't need.

This car is a 50 footer. Its not real cherry. But its pretty much complete and all the trim is there. The underside is very solid.
The interior needs a redo. I want to convert over to a 9 passenger so I have to find a donor car with the extra seat.
I am going to use it as a cruiser. A lot of potential.
