Can a holley main body be welded ?

I have a carb that the post office beat to death and bent the linkage which I can bend back, but they also tore the vent tube out of it which split the vent tube boss , just wondering if it can be tig welded ? , vs. the old jb weld fix.

as long as you can get all the finish off and it is very very very clean where it needs welding unclean aluminum don't weld to good

I thought the main bodies were Zinc?

It is Zinc and found out its not worth the hassle, I'll just mill it down and leave it , or tap it and screw the tube in as someone suggested.

I dont know what its made of but I had a1050 with one corner broke off. Somebody welded it back on and did a nice job.

I was thinking of the newer carbs with aluminum bodies that were plated. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

The base plate is aluminum and can be welded no problem , the main bodies are made From Zinc ,they put a greenish chromic acid solution on it which forms a thin layer of zinc chromic coating on it as well to prevent corrosion , It said uncoated Zinc is a bright silvery metal that reacts with air and water to make a powdery material often called white rust. The new aluminum bodies would be no problem to fix.

You could try soldiering with silver soldier when I said it could be welded/tig I was thinking the body was aluminum
