Is a 460 from an RV built different than a car or light truck engine ?
Hey guys,
I'm not on much , but hoping someone can enlighten me. My 73 mach 1 has a 76 460 from an RV installed by the p.o. I have heard that heavy truck - industrial 460 applications were built with heavier valves , bigger ports , more hp than cars+ light trucks. Any truth to that ? My engine has the D3 heads . What would you find 4 bolt mains on besides SCJ's ? Thanks in advance for the schooling .

A 1976 460 engine from a motorhome is a dime-a-dozen 1976 460 long block, not an industrial 385 Series engine. (By the way, the industrial 385 Series engines did not have more horsepower than the passenger car engines.)
The only factory spec passenger car engines with 4-bolt blocks other than the 429 Super Cobra Jet was the Boss 429.
