TravisRice wrote:I understood that there is a stock pile shortage in the mid-west region and that the southern and eastern areas still had a vast amount of LP to be had. I also thought I heard on the news that the majority of the price increase was in relation to the extra travel and dire need of the cold stricken Mid-west region. Traveling farther, running 24-7 , and actually lifting restrictions on permits and driving time limits to aid in the transport. I have heard people talking here in MD and in WV where we are working that thier LP price has increased by nearly 1/3 in the past week, so I can only assume that it is price gouging if there is not a shortage in the entire US in general.
I am in maintenance we had to fire our converter up today and convert LP to natural gas the gas company said we might have to go to LP that they are short on natural gas. They told us if we had to switch to LP they would they would come fill the LP tanks we have 5 tanks at one plant and 3 at the other plant. I would stay they are 750 gals each and the boss said if we went to LP we would have to have them filled everyday to keep the roaster and dryer running 24hrs a day. Peanut Butter so if you see the price raised on it you will now why roasting the nuts cost the most in making Peanut Butter.

Re: Whats up with LP?????
The dealer I get LP from says they are having to get it trucked in from Kansas and Texas so trucking fees are a lot higher. But daym, 6.42/gal instead of 1.92....
It's either going to be Nat gas or wood or a combination of both for me next year.

Re: Whats up with LP?????
Did anyone hear of such shortages a week or two ago? It amazes me how companies continue to raise prices expecting everyone will continue to pay when most of us are near broke! Oh I forget, move the average Joe a bit lower on the food chain so the O'Team can assist us! It reminds me of those third world environments, where citizens are competing with the chickens and fly's for specs of food in the donkey shit while the insiders are turning on their gold plated faucets to fill their enormous marble tubs!

Supposedly, the shortage started last fall with the farmers using lp to dry their corn..

Re: Whats up with LP?????
No, but I'd bet there will be a "shortage" or some towelhead will get a fart stuck crossways and that will cause the speculators to come unglued with worry and the price will skyrocket.
Re: Whats up with LP?????
I know most here (at least that post) are south of the Northeast US.. here's an interesting read on what's going on in the natural gas front, particularly affecting the Northeast.
http://www.wgeld.org/DocumentCenter/View/50
In a nutshell, the upper part of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline that feeds the Northeast is running short on capacity, cranking up our "transmission/delivery" costs. I still can't fathom the rationale of such huge price increases to "turn up the pumps" when it's cold up here..

That's because they can't figure out a way to collect tax on it, yet.

Re: Whats up with LP?????
they should give us a tax cut for burning wood.look a the jobs it would create! i doubt you could get many folks to cut wood anymore.hell they'd cut a tree down on their truck or even cut a leg off i bet a mexican could give a chainsaw hell.......Mustang-junky wrote:Lem Evans wrote:I hear that Obom's people aint to keen on burning wood.

LP prices
What you boys need down south is a nice big pipeline from out here in Alberta to keep prices down and keep you warm, but there seems to be some opposition to pipelines as they(Alberta government) are still trying to get the Keystone pipeline approved to go south albeit it is an oil pipeline. We got lots of natural gas but up here the price is lower and not many Oil Co's are drilling for it. Everyone is going for oil and condensate. Propane up here delivered for home heating(no roadtax) is around $2-2.5/gallon right now but could change at any time up or down.

It also does not have an On/Off switch and is everywhere. Most other forms of indoor heating, not so much. It's not the wood that they don't like, it's what it allows people to have.Mustang-junky wrote:Lem Evans wrote:I hear that Obom's people aint to keen on burning wood.

Re: Whats up with LP?????
Adney had a 1/3 of a barbeque tank in the back of his pickup, (which has a top) ... somebody stole it.
Re: Whats up with LP?????
I was lucky enough to get LP before the hike. Got it for $2.49 A gallon.
Yesterday I picked up a 300 gallon fuel oil tank for my wood boiler project.
A couple years ago I buried the Pex water lines and installed the heat exchanger in my furnace. Just never got around to building the wood boiler. It's time I get it done.
My BBF ranger build is on hold until I can get some affordable heat for the house.
