Water tank in trunk.
Well I pulled the radiator and all the fan bs i never use, a good 30#s.
Gonna fab a 4 gal alum tank and use my remote pump to circulate the water from the tank to the engine and back.
The fast 10.5 cars mike builds are set up this way, they use ice water and pump through the heads only, I dont have to be that extreme, in fact i'll put a heating pad on my tank lol.
Mike said they can get a lot more aggressive with the tune, that and the 30#s off the nose and in the trunk aint a bad idea.
Anyway I though I would get a thread going about it. .................Nick pay attention.

Re: Water tank in trunk.
Hey you BB Ford guys need to remember that you can turn the intake manifold around and mount it backwards, IF you use single pass cooling and drill another hole in the head gasket. I did it that way on Kristina Lawyer's dragster engine, because she had a rear mounted radiator over the tranny/rearend, and it really cleaned up the plumbing and shortened that top radiator hose a bunch!
Because her radiator is mounted at an angle, and the highest tank portion of it was higher than the water outlet neck in the manifold, I added a spring loaded bleeder valve in the highest portion af the radiator, and we just burp it to get out any airlocks.
Hope this helps,
Charlie

Re: Water tank in trunk.
I built my own cool down chiller pretty cheap compared to what some of the companies sell them for. I could cool the engine down to well below ambient temps in just a matter of minutes.....safely.

Nice idea Jeff! Is that a Chevy engine I see in the Mustang? I thought we were going to convince you to go with a TFS A-460 headed Ford engine? I still honestly believe there is more power there with a Ford

still toying with the idea of just sticking a 2 qt tank up front just to move water through the block, this way i dont add weight with all the hoses and bs.............................pondering lol.

I'm not going to run anything. I can't say how it's going to work, but as long as I don't run normal brackets, I think I will be ok.

Re: Water tank in trunk.
I'd at least run water through the block and heads, the heads will get hot spots in them.

No Radiator
Jon, I have been thinking about a one or two quart tank in the front. I have tried all kinds of lean outs and the primer plus, but we usually launch the car at just over 140 degrees. Not only would that clean up the front and save weight, but might help get the temp up. Let me know if you find a neat tank. John

Re: Water tank in trunk.
local welding shop had some condemed alum cylinders, about 3.5" in diameter. I actually had one I used for a primer plus tank when i was on injection, holds a bout 2 quarts, easy to weld a rad cap bung to.
Guy could wrap a heating pad around it real easy like.............

Re: Water tank in trunk.
So you gonna stick with alky from here on out?
Keeping it all up front sounds lighter and less of a hassle.

Re: Water tank in trunk.
the way I look at it is if you have to stick it in the trunk, then it is time to either put it on a diet or if you are doing it for weight then put some dang tires under it so you can stick it.....
