Bracket racing with a 94 inch wheelbase Bronco II
I had some fun this past weekend with a Bronco II that I bought turn-key back in January.
I was shopping for a lightweight Fox Mustang for the sole purpose of bracket racing it and win some rounds. (I did not want to hack up any of my T-Birds)
And then I saw this on craigslist.
It has a Mustang roller cam 302, 4 bbl, C-4 trans. and a 4.10 Bronco II rear with a Lincoln locker and runs on pump gas.
Pretty basic bracket machine, but then again it is exactly what I was looking for to help me start winning rounds.
I haven't weighed it yet, but the previous owner said it weighed 2475 lbs. without driver.
It's not super fast ( 8.19 @ 83 mph) but it is fun to race. (especially the round robin' style races at US60 on Sat. nights) Real easy to make the turn into the water box.
All I have done with it so far is put DOT Hoosiers tires on the back and some mufflers on it so that I can run the 1/4 mile trophy class at Bowling Green.
I am looking forward to getting more seat time with it after my Stocker T-Bird is finished.
I plan to be at the Ford race @ US60 with it.

Very cool car/truck!! I love the mini pick-up look. Reminds me of when someone made a funny car out of an early small Bronco. Good luck!!

That thing is really cool Alan.
I Love it !!
Do yourself a favor and ditch that Fram filter in favor of a Motorcraft.

Re: Bracket racing with a 94 inch wheelbase Bronco II
Thanks everyone.
I hope this little truck turns out to be a winning machine for me.
Well, I call it a truck because it looks like a shorty Ranger.
Keith:
Yeah, I'm a Motorcraft oil filter man myself.
Now maybe I can run the NMRA Truck/Lightning race at the World Finals.
Not sure how the Bronco will work with the .500 Pro tree tho.
Damon:
I would like to run at MP at least once this year.
I think they run a 2 day big bracket race there sometime around Sept.
Maybe I can schedule a trip to that event with the Bronco II.

The Damron II was a full chassis deal. Built by Kurt Damron, owner of Undercover Chassis, very good dragster builder. It was red, white and blue if I remember correctly.

Cool, it's like a mini uni-body Ranger.
