The Drag(ster) slayers
I will call them that because they were that on Saturday. First it was Harold Webster(342g). Harold was drawing some of the toughest and fastest dragsters on the property and slaying them w/each pass w/a new engine and alcohol combo w/consistency. For those of you that don't know Harold,he's 69 yrs. old and as good a racer as you will find. Harold finally got beat in the final by a dragster but congrats Harold for being the last door car standing in S/Pro.
And for those of you that did'nt watch the Saturday nite program,it was a treat watching Keith and the 58 do their thing. Keith was on the throttle stop dialed in the low 7's. It was so funny ,he would take off then the nose would fall and the guy in the other lane thought he had trouble and then the 58 would blow by them on the other end like they were backing up. It worked great until His good friend the nipped him in the 5th round.
And speaking of the ,man this guy is one tough customer when it comes to racing, what can I say, other than ,You are the my friend. Congrats to all the winners.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
Don't be too hard on the dragsters,,,,,many of us happen to like them around here. Thanks mainly to Phillip Oakley,,, we've got Robbie Kuegel, Scott Carman, Bobby Small, Bobby Shrewsberry (the Super-Pro Winner), Larry Conolty, Cheyenne Stanley, Kristina Lawyer (last year's Super-Pro Winner),,, all running FORD powered dragsters around here locally. Then Phillip has two dragsters himself.
However, like you I thought Harold did a fine job, I told him that Saturday night. We appreciate all those guys that stayed and raced in the regular Saturday night program like Dan and Keith also.

Slo Ride
That Saturday night race sure was a blast. I hated to turn on the dreaded throttle stop, but I figured that the '58s body roll-induced handling issues would get worse at night. The old car sure likes the high gear-only....2.70 seconds on the stop setup.
Today I ordered a super-duper 1-1/8" torsional anti-roll bar and hardware. That should help. Maybe the old car will 60' 1.27 or so when straight.
A few passes at Silver Dollar Raceway next Saturday will tell.
It was great seeing Harold walk his way through the pack. Dan did a pretty good job, too, for an old hippie!

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
One thing for sure ....we won't be running no dragsters at the HotRod Reunion They only have "REAL" racecars there The dragsters do have a big advantage on bad track conditions and are killer bracket machines ,and easy to go fast in.............BUT..................they're not much of crowd pleasers to watch.........To each his own

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
Guy's I did'nt start this thread to Bash dragsters. All I was saying was that Harold,Dan,and Keith really did well to last as long as they did w/that many (really good/fast)dragsters there, and on a track that was not hooking really well for some of the door cars. Bobby did a helluva job all nite long and is to be commended for a job well done.
