Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
Guys ...be careful what you wish for. When the car gets more power than it can use it'll always be the track's fault. It is not lost on me that the bbf dragster with the least amount power won the race.
I will say that B. Small running three 4.49s in a roll was ass kicking

Consistancy wins bracket races.......not speed or hp. Your racing yourself......

Consistancy may be the key, but its a lot easier in a faster car..........as long as its consistant lol.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
Man there sure is alot of BS on this topic. Just wandering what the round record was on the Dragster Drilling? One more thing for you guys that think it is easier to get a 4.50 dragster like Bobby Smalls down the track than a 5.50 door car with a full tube chasis need to drive a dragster. Can anybody name one door car at the bash with a Legit 1200 hp engine, I didnt see one.
Lots of cool cars this year and I loved them all. Thanks for visiting Windy Hollow. Hope everyone had a good time and hope many win lights come to all of you.
One more thing. Somebody better tell NHRA nobody wants to watch any dragsters now. Also they should never win best appearing or best engineered because they have no character.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
In my oppinion, until a door car outruns a dragster "heads-up" it hasn't SLAYED the dragster ... up to that point it is ALL about the driver.
EDIT: Now the old AA/C cars were narrowed door bodied cars with "slingshot" front ends having a 180" wheelbase but, you'll have to be at least 45 years old to remember them actually running. Unless you visit the nostalgia drags once in a while.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
I'm only good for 1-2 rounds anyway during a bracket race...............which I run maybe 2 times a season...............so my odds are about 50/50.
Guy on a local board here goes by the name "dragster slayer" , and for good reason. Little slow ass smallblock Maverick deal, gives them piperacks fits.
If I were to buy or build a bracket purpose tool it would be a dragster though...............but I ain't in the hunt for one yet.

So, he just gives piperacks fits.........4.90 door cars kick his ass all the time?richter69 wrote:I'm only good for 1-2 rounds anyway during a bracket race...............which I run maybe 2 times a season...............so my odds are about 50/50.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
I guess they do, otherwise he would go by as the "dragster/4.90-5.20 doorcar slayer"

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
The guy runs 7.98-8.00s. He was track champion and Mr. Wendells quick champ. All he does is puts the dial on the car and doesn't drive the stripe. The fast cars are always thinking they are going to run around him, and will let him have the stripe. He only averages about a .030 light. There are a couple of guys (in dragsters) that hand him his ass every time. All you have to do is cut a good bracket light and take the stripe by .010 and you'll beat him every time.
They have made the cut off 6.49 for the quick, so he wont be bothering them in that class anyway, and his luck has ran out this year.

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
That's a good thing.........super slow cars in s. pro have killed the local dragstrips. A dozen years ago I got way tired of explaining why one car was at the finish line when the other car took off.....they don't get it and did not come back. Spectators should be paying the bills not the racers.
If a track wants spectators there has to be a 'show' and it seems they think a handicapped start aint one . The dragboat stuff 'bracket' racing aint got any 'shoe polish' classes......1/4 mile 7/8/9/10 second brackets as they have been called. One can run the 9 sec. class @ 9.27 but their butt is beat...gotta get a 9 oh to have a chance. Looks like the 'index' thing some people are doing may be about the same thing.
I do not have an issue with a handicapped start but, it'd be a 'show' if it was 1 second or less.

The only people that enjoy watching bracket racing............are bracket racers.Lem Evans wrote:If a track wants spectators there has to be a 'show' and it seems they think a handicapped start aint one .

Re: The Drag(ster) slayers
My local track is starting into the index stuff....I think a "general" spectator would appreciate 2 cars running door-to-door more than they would a 4.90 digger chasing down a 6.80 door car....fwiw.
