It'd depend on how the skirts were designed . There is not one answer here.
I suspect you would be better served to ask the people that make them.

My suggestion is you are not comfortable with your machine shop then find one you are comfortable with....

More power more heat more expansion. Sometimes looser is better, but it sounds like you almost split the difference, and it should be OK. I would be sure to keep the engine warm, before you hit it though. Block heaters make sense in cold weather, and get brought up alot I have noticed around here. This may be a good reason why, besides fuel conservation.

Yeah it ran good...Just had that oil weap between the head and block at driver rear....After pulling the motor and lookin at everything with the ole bi-focals, found the upper threaded hole above the oil return hole was raised .007 where it hadnt been chafered...Im about 99 % sure that was holding up the gasket enough to cause the oil weap....Can't stand a oil leak....

if you are worried about that spot go to Harbor Freight and buy you a carborandum wit rock and use WD40 and smooth it off...I hit all my gasket surfaces with this rock and especially the pan rails....and intake surface... but to make sure you never let your buddies try and sharpen their knives with this rock I have one in my tool box for engines only.....
