The original question was prior to dissecting the MSD, and it was wondering if I was missing something technical that prohibited it from being done.

You need to get a bunch of Duraspark distributors and do your magic on them and sell um............

Good job on the mods, good to see that the duraspark would work as a good alternate too for guys who aren't as handy.

We shortened one recently. Not a 460 - but similar idea...
Not sure if you can see this - but we cut the body and shaft down as far as we could using the drive broach depth as a limit. Then we fabricated a mounting ring to fit a crab cap. Ended up a LOT shorter than any normal deal.
