429 head gaskets
Hi I recently bought a d0ve-a 429 engine, someone put d2ve-AA heads on it. heard the d2's were not the best so I purchased a set of 95cc performer rpm heads. pistons are L2366 .040 flat tops with one valve relief. Edelbrock says to install heads without gasket and make sure engine spins over by hand. It spins over but I can feel the pistons clicking the heads. I bought felpro 1018 gaskets with .041 thickness. How thick should I be running with pistons hitting the heads like this

Realistically that will depend upon the piston to wall clearance for figuring a minimum piston to head clearance value ... .035" should be fine.

Thanks rm did some measuring today pistons might come out of hole .005, torqued heads down with 1018 gaskets everything feels fine. going to check valve clearance tomorrow, anyone out there running eddy heads with decked block and flat top pistons with one valve relief. not sure what cam is in it just a street engine nothing to big.
