Sounds like a 460 Police interceptor engine. D2OE-AB heads but no solid lifter cam. Ford did put some "special" engines. A friend in Florida has a ( for real) 4BBL 400 ( loaded with XE part numbers) from a Florida police car.

This is correct and describes well the differences between the 1972 and 1973 429 PI engines. Dlister very likely has a 1973 429 PI engine.

By the way, the 1971 429PI (pre-D20E heads) was basically an SCJ long block, all the way down to the D0OE-R heads.

I have seen a picture of the XE 400 4BBL intake. Looked long and hard for a picture of a 400 4v engine or car, with no luck. Post em if you got em.
