2012 F350 Super Cab Lariat 4x4 DRW
28,450 miles
Loving this 6.2L engine, it flat GETS IT DONE! I can't wait to hook it up to the trailer.
Not sure how long they will keep the images online but here's a few.
I miss my big ol' red F450.

My 2002 F150 was red, race car is red...
I see a pattern here LOL!
From what I've been told, they tow really well.

I also have an 11 Lariat 4x4 crew cab 6.2L, with the 3:73 electric locking diff, and I pull a 11K 5th wheel, the motor / trans combination sometimes makes even me grimace, in fear for the engine / trans as if you hit the wood on a hill a 70mph it will drop to first gear if feels it necessary But very competent and no complaints here.

Would prefer the 4.30 gear for towing however they seem to be even more rare. Mine has the 3.73 limited slip rear. If I were to order a new F350, it would have 4.30 gears.

Damon:
your truck appears to be one that was special ordered by a customer and not a dealer stocking type.
It's rare to see a 2011 + red x-cab 4 wd dually with a gas engine.
Most I have seen are white.
And yes, the 4.30 gears are the preferred ones.
Very few dealers ordered those trucks with 4.30's regardless of the trim level..

Alan,
Previous owners were a retired couple who towed an RV back and forth to Myrtle Beach. There was one other Truck like this one but it was in Georgia and was a Black King Ranch Crew Gas.
Found several that were not DRW.
I'll be glad when all this rain and snow goes away so we can go racing......

rain, rain, go away...
I am anxious to see what mine will do pulling my trailer.
I'm getting 8.5 mpg right now with the '04 dually and the V-10 with the camper in the bed.
I would think if I could get 11-12 with the 6.2, I would be happy, but we'll see.

On the way home from WV I was getting 14.3 but then I hit 70mph and it dropped to 13.6 according to the lie-o-meter LOL!
History of the truck has some 10.1 mpg data, I'm assuming from the 5th wheel camper.

Re: Any 2011-2015 Super Duty 6.2 owners here ?
I got to hook up my 24 ft enclosed to the 6.2 Super Duty last night.
I tested it with the traction control off, tow haul mode, no 6th gear overdrive and the sway control off. ( I read that the sway control might rob some mileage, but I dunno)
A few observations of this 2011 F-250 6.2 versus my 2004 CC Dually with the 2 valve V-10 and 4 spd. automatic: ( both trucks are 2wd)
Pros:
* Fantastic power
* Great brakes on the F250
* Factory brake controller works good.
Cons:
* The F-250 needs load equalizer bars, and it will be a pain to make that work on my 24 footer because of the V-nose on the front of the trailer.
* I would appear it gets the same mileage as my big ol' dually that weighs over 3,000 lbs more.
* On my 20 mile test loop ( below 55 mph) the lie-o-meter said 9.1 mpg.
* Assuming the meter is being .5 mpg on the generous side, then that means the 6.2 gets the same mileage as my V-10 dually with a 2000 lb. slide in camper in the bed standing 11 ft. in the air.
My dually consistently gets 8.5 mpg @ 64 mph down the freeway with all that aerodynamic drag from the camper. ( 4.10 gears and no overdrive)
In the end, the F-250 will do what I bought it for, mainly as a backup truck to pull my trailers if the dually goes down, so I am still pleased with my purchase. I'll just use the dually for all my trips to the track with the 24 ft. trailer.
That 17 mpg the 6.2 delivers is something I do like.

Yep. My 6.0L F450 had 4.30 gears and it pulled like CSX, even with tires a bit taller than the F350...It had Alcoa 19.5's.
The best part was that the truck was so heavy, with such huge brakes that steering and stopping with big trailers was a breeze.

Re: Any 2011-2015 Super Duty 6.2 owners here ?
Well, I got my first ( somewhat extended) road trip over the weekend.
I had to pick up an engine and trans 120 miles away so I hitched up my 16 ft open car trailer.
I topped off the truck and reset everything to start the mpg test.
After I returned home I went back to the same pump and topped off the truck exactly the same way.
I drove 240 miles and when I filled back up I had a hard time squeezing 14.3 gallons into it, so it calculates to 16.7 mpg pulling that trailer.
The most puzzling part is that the dash display showed 16.6 avg when I re-filled.
On the last mpg test I did with the truck by itself, the dash was over 1 mpg higher than actual.
I was thinking if I got 15 mpg pulling that trailer I would be ok with that.
I never dreamed it would actually get over 16.
Over 90 % of the drive time I had the cruise control on.
This was the highest I ever saw while driving:

Is that a 4.6L 3 Valve on the trailer?

Yes, a 2010 model. Seller claims it has 45K miles.
The swap will take a noticeable amount of weight off the front of that Turbo Coupe because it currently has an iron headed, 460 in it.
I'm hoping for a 250 lb. reduction.
Plus the PG ( with small convertor) versus the C-6 and 12 inch conv. will save about 60 lbs. ( maybe )

Make sure you post some pictures when you have the 4.6 3V in the Thunderbird.

I understand its not a mustang, I speak from a towing stand point. What gears does Dee's truck have ?
