There are some parts of an animal that I prefer not to eat.
Btw, you misspelled "chittlings"....it should start with an "s".

I admit I'm not a boiled chitterlings fan but I'll tear up some fried chittlings. But the my favorite is fried chicken gizzards, I'll hurt some body if they get in my way when there is some gizzards cook right!
Anyway, who wouldn't love some help getting their project put together with some help from his forum buddies! I started dismantling parts of the 94. I'm trying to only remove parts that have to come out for the swap.
My goal is to have the engine compartment as clean and bare as possible. Hide all the wires and hoses I can. It's looking good so far.

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
Ok, this is what I have got done tonight. I'll have to pull the truck in the gravel to drain the radiator, but I think I have everything up top disconnected.
This is the door sticker if there is anyone that can decode it and tell me what type of rear axle the truck has and the interior color. I need a drivers side door. The current one is busted from someone trying to take it off with out taking all the screws out.
The door panel I need replaced.
The super clean interior

Wow, I can't believe it's not a limited slip and a 3.08. Thats hwy gearing, that has to change but you never know the 600hp of the bbf might like that gearing?

It will depend a lot on your tire height.

Factory 8.8" Limited Slip's are worthless for off road use so you are not out much there either.

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
This is true. I'll know more about the gears once it moving under its own power. The money could be better spent right now.
Right now I'm real nervous about the headers fitting. They are suppose to fit but we know how that goes. If my headers don't fit I'll be dead in the water. There is no one in the state of Mississippi I know of that you can just take you car to and have them build headers. Then there is the cost involved with getting it done once you find someone.
Speaking of exhaust. I've been wondering what type of mufflers would sound good. The headers a fender well exit with 4" collectors. Of course I want it very noticeable but I don't want it as loud as open headers. I want the tone to be as deep as possible. What have mufflers have you found to give deep rumble, window shaking tone?

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
I would go with some 3" two chamber Flow Masters. I always liked the sound, others may not. If you want less noise go to a 3 chamber. The 3.08's should work pretty good up to a 32"/33" tire. I hope your headers fit to, if not maybe only one pipe may need to be moved, or something easy to correct.

I think he's just fishing. Truck's like that usually bring low $20's if they are lucky.cool40 wrote:that's a nice truck! I have used Dynomax bullets in the past and they gave a good howl but this exhaust systems used x-pipes. I'm not sure what they will sound like on individual headers.. The only Flowmadter I have ever heard has been on a Mustang's and stock vehicles.

They sound a lot different with some compression and cam in a good way. 5.0 Mustang's are no comparison and sound like crap with a stock cam with them.

I'll give you some sound advice here. Don't hot rod your hunting truck. Pick one truck to build and stick to the plan!

Its kinda backwards, the hunting truck gets used hard everytime it's used and the hot rod truck gets pampered. Now that I have decided what the fate is going to be for the trucks the 84 needs to get some accessories. it needs a lot of lights instead of me and everyone else running around the truck at night with flash lights.

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
I finally got some help removing the front clip. Now it will be "a lot" easier for me to work on pulling and sticking engines. The goal this weekend is to remove the 5.8 and start cleaning.
Then all I have to do is stick the new engine in and crank it up!! I'm very excited now!
I went to Holly Springs drag race this past weekend! That really helped to light the fire again. I can all ready smell the exhaust fumes!

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
No pretty pictures to look at, just the old engine sitting there waiting to be hooked to the hoist. It's really slow only having the weekend to work on it and then my back gets sore and get to where I can't move around 4pm! The undercarriage has dirt all over it and the oil dirt mix. Nasty to work on! Can't wait to get this engine out so I can clean the crap out of it!!

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
I finally got someone over here to help me slide the engine out this weekend. Now I'll have to get the tractor to set the engine out of the shop so I can roll the chassis out and scrub it down!
now what is next besides the swap?

Come to find out the truck wasn't a mass air unit but a speed density! I know I didn't see a mass air meter but some folks was swearing I just didn't know what I was looking for!

Re: My 1994 F150 AWD project!
A little bit of progress. Pressure washed the engine compartment and gave it a quick coat of epoxy black paint. It's time to start prepping for the drop! I'll buff the firewall paint and give it a couple of coats of synthetic wax.

It's getting there, I just don't have much time to work on it! Fingers crossed I will at least get a test fit this weekend. Interested to see if the headers fit and what will have to be done.
Next on the list:
Drop the rear gas tank and have it sumped.
Get driveshaft lengths.
"Fingers crossed" check the transmission cross member.
Decide if I want to run AC (check clearance issues)
Accessory brackets.
Finish cleaning the underside and paint the rest of the frame rails.
Install electric fuel pump and run lines.
Wire ignition
Plumb the transmission cooler
Wire electric fans
Add gauges
Work on suspension
Replace a steering wear items
Check, clean or replace brake system.

Todays new picture. Time to start trimming on some metal, I hope I won't have to change oil pans I think I'll be fine.
