I was getting parts to replace the rear main seal in a friends truck and they asked me if I wanted Viton or Rubber seal. I had never heard of Viton so figured I would ask which one you guys recommend. The price is not a concern as my friend said to do whatever is best. Appreciate any info

Viton will withstand higher temperatures and corrosive liquids; sealing value is the same.

Fitting either seal is critical ... out of the box it is probably to long.

Thanks Randy, I know of the too long thing now, wish I knew of it a couple months ago when rebuilding his engine. I knew the seal looked to be long but just figured that's how it worked. Appreciate the info.
