Chain the Engine or Not? Empty Chain the Engine or Not?

I am running the Ford Racing engine swap mounts in my Fairmont. Is it a good idea to run some kind of limiter from the frame rail to the drivers side head? I don't want to rip these mounts apart with my new found traction!!

I did but, it was too late and the damage was done and it was almost 5 bills. I was not using Ford Mounts though and had a fan by the radiator and it was not the electric kind. Suspect

Engine is dirty in the pick, but this is the SB street car, I used a 3/4" tube with spherical rod ends to the drivers head/frame.

A chain isn't really the best idea because of the possible chassis/uni-body damage from chain slack & pull, but a chain is probably better than nothing. A tube with rod-ends would be better than a chain, but using a motor plate/mid plate/travel limiters combo is the best idea.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info guys, I'll get some rod ends and tube and get it tied down.

That little piece of strap with the s-bend doesn't take the bolt in the head out of single shear. That said I've had mine for years in that upper bolt hole above and inside the head stud. The goal is to limit rotation and you get much more effective leverage in the higher hole at a greater distance from the crank centerline. The hardware looks really nice.

I was thinking about redesigning that strap. It makes sense to move it up also, I was trying to keep everything in a line.

Thanks for the input!
