Discontinued Cam Shaft M6250A460
I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 460 for my 77 ford f150 4X4 that I run in the sand and on the street. I have been using the Ford Racing camshaft (M6250A460) for years and have been very happy with it for my application. When I called to order a new cam and lifters from the dealer they told me that cam was discontinued. I am looking for another camshaft that is close to this one. All recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Ed

Call Lem Evans or Randy Malik up and the can have one custom ground for you, it's not super expensive and you will get exactly what you want.

310/320, Lift .588/.614 is the specs on it. Find something close if you are sure thats what you want or call one of the vendors for a custom unit that will likely work better.

Damn, yep, I need to look closer. I had the C460 in head as that was the last cam I had in my 466. It was a good runner.

It is not discontinued; Ford Racing simply doesn't have it anymore. That camshaft is the same as the Ford Marine cam.
Elgin and others do sell it.

^^^^This ones real close. It has a little more lift and is on a 112LSA instead of a 114.5 Like the SVO Cam.

Page 29 Looks Like Elgin even has a copy of the C460 Cam. Did SVO FRPP get their cams from Elgin?

I don't think he was, I just mentioned it because someone else did an I happened to see a grind like it in the Elgin catalog as well as a few other FRPP Edelbrock and Crane grinds also.

The FRPP "C460" camshaft was a HYDRAULIC lifter camshaft and Elgin's cam of the same specs is a SOLID lifter camshaft.
Engine Power or Camshaft Machine grind most of the generic camshafts within the marketplace.

I figured they
where all coming out of the same place somewhere and going into different boxes as a lot of the big name companies have grinds that are almost identical, Like the Edelbrock Performer and Performer Rpm grinds pop up with other companies name on them and I think FRPP even used a grind like the RPM in the crate engines and sold it separately also for awhile.

The Edelbrock RPM cam was on 108 degree separation and the FRPP "A443" cam was on a 112 degree separation.
Same lobe profiles but, a customized camshaft for whatever company bought them from the manufacturer for their own label.
Lobe profiles and separations are mixed and matched all over the place by those large parent manufacturers if you want a box-car load of your own "label" camshafts. Examples; Elgin, Melling, Sealed Power, Edelbrock, etc. Though every company does have some proprietary grinds.
A few "mom & pop" camshaft grinders do that with many profiles designed by other places for even just one "custom" camshaft; a Comp Cams intake lobe with a Crane exhaust lobe for example.
