If it weren't for bad luck Empty If it weren't for bad luck

Post  dr's wife racing May 7th 2016, 2:57 pm

Had the new car out a couple times. Thing look promising bet on third run the trans lost second gear. This will prob put it out for the race at US 60. Confusing?? I pulled the pan this morning it wasn't bad. I'm no trans guy. Not sure what is going on. Shifter was adj. correctly.

I thought I lost high gear once, too. On a pass, the air shifter hit as expected...trans went to neutral at 7 grand. I figured I was on top of my shifter adjustment as well, but that's exactly where the problem was. I was SURE the linkage was right, but a VERY SMALL adjustment made it right. Before you tear it down, check it one more time, maybe with the lnkage disconnected.

Mav. The pan is full of metal. It must have had some kind of clearence issue inside. It is all brand new stuff from PTC. Reid case super comp trans and a billett front Nos converter.Three pass's. Failed on the fourth.

Ooh...You said when you pulled the pan, "it wasn't bad". Full of metal = bad. Carry on, Ward. You can have it ready for KY.

Build it yourself if you want it right is what I've found. Could not even phantom paying someone to do High Performance transwork in the Internet Age.

Ptc should fix it. They're good folks when it comes to making up stuff. I had a lot of converter issues but I can't complain about the service. Cool

I've delt with kenny and lane for a long time. May have just been a part failure. I have it out and ready to go see them. I'll just have to see about the race cthe whole car has three pass's. I had hoped to run the heads up deal.

Ward, get it ready and drag it to the race...
If nothing else, it would make for a good Test and tune session...

Wyatt is home from college. He is going to take it to kenny tomorrow morning. They may be able to fix it while he is there. Kenny said it sounds like a pump problem.

I bought 3 converters over the years from Kenny and went down to his shop with a chevy friend of mine. I asked him about my new Big Ford combo and all he could do was make fun of and down Fords, said he was a mopar and cheby man. I took my business to FTI with advice from some on the board and I have been very satisfied, they got mine right the first time.

That is just Kenny. We will see how this goes. They have always treated me good. I will know this afternoon. I had a FTI behind it in the other car and was very pleased with it as well. It was for the wrong thickness mid plate. not their fault. I bought it from David C. It was new his mid plate is thicker than mine. I carried it to Kenny he cut the noise down for me for nothing. So I can complain

Doesn't sound like a good way to earn business, I would have gone elsewhere too.
