Very cool engine build.
What cam timing was eventually used? I hear it was less than .900" lift.
I also assume reasonably tame lobe profiles as dictated by high rpm range?
Like to hear some "tech" .
Cheers

Thank you Chris!!
The duration split sure works well. I sometimes think many do not go far enough - certainly N/A.
Thanks again for the info!

It put 30' on a Hemi headed Ford over the weekend.....Not bad for a Wedge head engine...

I doubt it was a Kentucky bred Hemi Ford

I suspect a large suitcase full of $1000.00 bills.
Awesome to see these high value builds - usually top secret
Cheers

High dollar heads and manifold for sure but, so is a CFE Thor package.
The interesting thing about this deal is it's still the same A460 block, stef's pan and tank, Danny Bee, coil, dry sump pump that I sold him about a dozen years ago when it was a 514" 1X4 C460 package.

This engine has 30 dyno pulls and 4 competition pulls (four wins) all in the 8000-9000rpm range. It's due for valve springs and they have a clear view oil filter in the truck and it's as clean as a whistle. Bottom end should be good for the season. Valve train was built for 9K rpm duty. All stainless T&D rockers, REV Ti valves, PAC springs and retainers, geometry is spot on, Smith Bro's 1/2" push rods, .936 DLC coated keyway lifters in CHE bushings and like Chris said, 60mm cam. It took many many hours to get the heads to where they were ready to bolt on. Almost every part on this entire build had to be modified, trimmed, fixed, tweaked, etc. I got pretty frustrated a few times but the effort was worth it.cletus66 wrote:That thing is singing !!! Lem, what bore and stroke was the 514?

I bet that was a screamer!! Should be just under 3.85" stroke.

are's with a 4.625 stroke @ 9000 rpm, we've had dragsters shutoff because they couldn't heard there motor at the 1000ft mark because when we come up on the they thought they had blown up!!!LOL
