Re: Price for boring a block
Price to bore is contingent upon the existing bore of the block in question.
Also with or without boring bar and required cylinder wall finish.

You where asking about cost, cost depends on how much time the shop needs, the smaller the bore now the more time it will take.
I'd expect to see something in the $600 range for going 4.360 to 4.600
Plus hone and that can be all over the board depending on what's required.
Now keep in mind the prices are for quality machine work, not the NAPA Briggs and Stratton job.
If your building a race engine good quality machine work is essential.

I agree , it takes a few more "passes" with the boring bare to get to 4.600 and time is money. Boring , honing, balancing , are not areas to skimp.

Yes the build is going to be street / Strip build mostly for heads up racing on pump gas.
I think it will be best for the block bored and honed. I have bought all new parts they not the very high end but not any low cost parts.
I'm looking for a quality machine work.

How's the main bearing bore alignment OTB? Are they generally true or do they need to be cleaned up some?
Just something to think about. Not sure if your block is new-new or not, but there is usually a ton more involved in prepping a OTB block than just fitting the pistons to the bores.

Its a new a460 block and still in the crate, never been touch. I'm looking for advise on the machine work for the block and who would be a good person to talk to about shiping the block for machine work. I understand that I will have to pay for shipping both ways not a problem . I just want to the work to be done professionally. I have the Eagle 4.500 crank and 6.800 Eagle rods with ARP 2000 alloy bolts
