Boring with a filled block
Would a filled block allow for a slightly bigger bore then a non filled block? I took a block in on trade that is bored .040 over that the guy said he had it sonic checked and was told it could go .060 safely. He then filled the block and ran it in his pulling truck. So, I am curious if it could go .080 over since its filled.

Just because a block is able to be bored .060" oversize or even more does not mean it is as strong as it would be when it is also filled.
Filling a block essentially keeps the bores from moving around under power for a better ring seal and has very little to do with how much oversize that particular block can be machined.

That was my thoughts as well, but i was curious so I threw it out there.
