Well this shit just won't Quit

put the 712 on the Chassis dyno today  , ended up with this



just about enough to make a grown man cry!!! Don't ask how much it made as I'm not going to tell!! but enough to run a 6.30 !!! good thing the car is sponsored by Visa and Mastercard ! New rods will be ordered monday and being a loyal customer for 40+ years should have a new set by next weekend , I have sleeves in stock , pistons and rings ,valves, bearing,gaskets and a tig welder to fix the block , stuck a camera in and the crank looks good but my crank guy say's bring it and he'll check it while I  watch . We'll be in Las Vegas !! come Hell or High water!!!!

and yes that that piece of the rod was on the floor of the chassis dyno , we pulled the threads right out of the rod and then the crank hit it and broke the rod off and fired it out the side of the pan  ! the bearings look prefect! motor was only at 2000 rpm after a run coming down to idle in neutral when my son felt a vibration and clicked the motor off

just the price of racing !!!!

If the bearing looked good you think it was just a hard part failure. Man that stinks.

good news!!! the crank survived almost unscathed , a little aluminum tranfer were it broke the rod off and fired it threw the side of the pan. New rods on the way!!!

found the cause .   Why we pulled the threads out the rods , we had a crank trigger pickup go bad on the dyno back in 2011 when I originally dynoed the motor gave us a shit HP graph
 
and we had the same problem this year on 1st pull and I just changed out the pick up and made another 20 pulls on the engine dyno the rods in the motor only have 25 1/4 mile passes but i guess  I' ll be giving them away to  the first 8 kids under 12  that show up at my trailer Saturday @ at noon    Nov 19

I know there is never any humor when some rod$ get kicked out of a high dollar pan. but that first 8 kids showing up made me LOL on a Monday morning. youll get'er goin in no time.

Damn Frank...Sorry to hear this, the upside is that it happened before you got to Vegas, so you can have it 110% for the show. Do you have an idea how often the crank sensors fail, do you need to buy them by the case and test/change them like spark plugs? you are a hard working AB farmer whom I don't believe can sit still for a minute...cook up one of those Prime AB steaks and get ready for the arrival of those rods you got some ass kicking to do.

well the blocks repaired , pans been fixed , 1 new sleeve installed ,head installed and torqued to bed the sleeve , bored , and final honed ! and I'm still trying to get all the farm work done !! still have 40 acres of alfalfa seed to combine and 160 acres of flax ! and 320 acres to be disc Twice before I leave to go hunting for 10 days on the 29th, on my annual elk hunting trip! ie ; full competition drinking trip ! LOL my kids going to take over as "engine builder" to reassemble the motor after we get the New rods tomorrow and take the car back to the dyno chassis Saturday , for revenge !!! I got to much work to do to go !! But the kid will put a tuneup in it that will hurt alot of healings in Las Vegas !!! lol

ps; you can get a lot of sleep when your dead and I lost 2 close friends last week that were 10 and 14 years younger than me ! Look out Las Vegas were coming loaded for bear!!
