powerstroke quit
My 96 f250 powerstroke quit like I shut the key off and won't start... I changed the lift pump and have 5-8 psi at the filter and changed the camshaft positioning sensor with a new one and swapped the IDM with my 95 powerstroke f350 tow truck and now can't get the tow truck running again... Do I need to have the codes cleared after changing the IDM??? Any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks Bart
Thanks Bart

Are you sure the new sensor is good? Check wire connection also.

Re: powerstroke quit
New and old CPS move the tac when it's rolling over and I have a friend bringing a scanner from work this weekend... Tried swapping the IDM twice with my 95 f350 tow truck and the 350 won't run with the one with my 96 f250 road truck and my road truck won't run with either
Re: powerstroke quit
What should I get for pressure from the lift pump??? I'm getting 8 when cranking
Re: powerstroke quit
you should see 60-65psi of fuel pressure at the filter housing with the truck running. Have you unplugged the fuel heater and checked the fuse for it to see if it's blown? It shares the same fuse as the IDM does so if it blows the IDM will not fire the injectors. Is it making smoke when you crank it?

check the wires going to the ipr valve and fuel heater they run around behind the fuel filter and make sure they are in good shape/not showing bare spots in the wire and make sure they haven't melted together

Re: powerstroke quit
Schrader valve is where I checked pressure and only getting 8 psi... And no smoke wile cranking... I'll ckeck everything else out that you guys mentioned and get back... Now i have been told so many different things about the pressure from the lift pump not running... I was told 5 PSI. 10PSI. 25 psi .... When you check pressure at the schrader valve on side on filter bowl not running I'm getting 8 PSI.
Re: powerstroke quit
does this have a mechanical lift pump in the valley of the engine?
